Hello! I'm so grateful to you for putting this music on here. As a child I listened to this record a lot. And on the front cover of it, as much as I can remember, it looked like a wet, lamp lit evening in the streets (of Dublin?) with a beautiful array of colours, particularly blue, glistening and reflecting on the beautiful shiny wet streets. I loved this record so much, it was my 100 percent favourite. I would proudly play it to all and sundry who came to our house. But one day, it disappeared from the record collection, and I'm guessing that one of the kids from my primary school (who probably also loved it), stole it while visiting at my place. I couldn't get it back, and I have been in mourning ever since. Now I'm so happy to listen to it again! I dreamed so much of finding it again! Thank you so much again!

Haha..yes!!! Our good old Ian still going strong!! He is ageless!!! Keep up the good work,Ian,you are one of the pillars of the SDB's. And still demanded in Take The Floor, how bloody else!!! And Ian was also an expert on accordions and can play on all of them! Button or keys,no problem.

Thanks for your compliment,AVINO The thing is...I've been listening for plm 50 years to SDBands. It started with the BBC Home Service,3x a week half an hour SDM,and later Take The Floor with Robbie Shepherd.on Saturday Night. They(BBC Radio Scotland) do not know my nickname, but all the more my real name. This, because of the many comments I wrote. But not just the SDB's,but also the BBC Scottish Variety Orchestra,John Robertson's Scottish Country Dance Players,Chalmers Wood and not in the least the Edinburgh Tim Wright Band. All of the mentioned being fiddle orchestra's.Those were the times!

We also used to listen to SDBands on a Sat night on BBC Scotland radio but as soon as Tim Wright or a band heavy on fiddles was playing the radio went off he stated these werent SDBands just a bunch oh tin cans.

@@wulliesdad They were the forerunners of the later SDB's,starting after the war..And yes...there were differences between fiddle bands( amateur or professional style) And now we have the SDB's in trad style. And let's hope we can keep them, for there's another danger facing us....the Celtic "Confectionaries",promoted by BBC!!!!!! Round the Millenium time neither of today's SDB's played "old, old modern,or modern tunes.Only new modern stuff.Band A played the tunes, composed by Band B, and the other way round.Had everything to do with fear of BBC. Anyhow...we have survived!!!

BTW...you have a way with Hawker Hunters? And the record above(haven't got this item) must be not an all too old one, given the label of EMI Waverley.Surmise it's a SZLP plus number. Just like the later Shand LP's. And your posting of Jim Johnstone ....a Lismor recording?
