It saddens me to think Scottish dance bands who gave us great music like this are gone forever…

Yes,Avino......Colin Dewar....at times I tend to say to myself......"The Very Best Of The SDB's ever!!!!!" As an example referring to Colin's OB (Outside Broadcast) on Take Th Floor d.d round1996(btw..you know Robbie died past first of August at 87 which means a great loss to me,I had during 12years great contacts with him, mainly with regard to comments on the SDB's) That broadcast 's been recorded on CD being part of their series"Special Requests".It's in my collection.(once ordered from William Crawford of HRM,familiar to you) Here is another great posting of the Colin Dewar Band...yes..on youTube by the name of "The Highland Rambler".Please go there and enjoy the greatest reels ever composed.Notably the 2nd last of the four!!!!! Sadly...no origin or composer stated.Great shame. And another youTube posting of them is "Sutters Of Selkirk"in which they play the Irish Reel "More Power To Your Elbows"Another cracker. Hope you will enjoy all this and greetings from the DHHF again( Dutch Hawker Hunter Foundation)

For the umpteenth time listening this item, again...and first tune is not in my collection, but poorly re-constructing the title springs to mind (partly?)...."Captain Orr Ewing,"....or something? Greatings from the DHHF again.

Hello,Avino...never seen this posting before.Well......it' looks like a homage to Calum McLean, with regard to the first two tunes. Starting with his first tune,of which I forgot the name of this tune. His second one is the Jim McAlistar's Jig.A great tune It occurs more than before, forgetting titles.However.....the music does not leave my brain(thanks Heaven).

The tune here is the Boys of the Mhari L a Kirkcudbright fishing boat lost off the coast of the Isle of Man. The late Ewan McGowan wrote the tune as a tribute to the crew around 1986.

This music was recorded when Scotland was a happy and United country. We will never see or hear the likes again, the country is full of hate and division caused by a certain political party who think they speak for the whole of Scotland. Great music from a great musician.
