Who else was he Ian going to fight? And how was or is Usman ducking Shavkat just bcuz he didn't fight him? There's more guys than Shavkat Usman hasn't fought, and there's more guys than Usman that Shavkat hasn't fought... Not sure why Usman has to b the bad guy there, but I guess if that's the way u see it... Maybe u just don't like Usman..? Ian however has trained with Shavkat and doesn't have the same fear of not knowing that other fighters might find off putting about him. So that kind of negates Ian of the courage he's being rewarded for if he has trained with the guy and fully expects he's going to win, or at least confident enough to sign the paper, then wat are we talking about..? Participation trophies? Sounds right coming from an Ian Gary fan... Haven't seen u guys around so that basically makes u pioneers... Setting the bar pretty low out of the gate tho, not a good look for... "The future"... Lol

I gotta admit, it's a HORRIBLE look for Colby right now. Not just avoiding Ian, but calling out all these big name guys, talking about all these huge fights he wants, and ends up fighting Buckley on a Fight Night card. That's gotta hurt for a guy like that who tries so hard to create a certain image

Father time catching up to him, man, but I still give Covington so much damn respect. He was about to get fired then he made a genius move. He has made millions of dollars he only lost to champions. He held an interim belt. Nothing but respect to Covington, but I believe if he beats Buckley, which I believe he will then Covington will get the winner of this one. But the thing is Covington is not getting any younger so I don’t know. I still think he had a mental breakdown fighting in front of Trump and he was just so afraid of getting knocked out. That knockout against Usman with Leon really affected Covington mentally because he knows the war he had with Usman twice.
@eddiehauser6661
@eddiehauser6661 Ай бұрын
@@youtubeconnollyfamily I respect Colby in some ways, in other ways not so much. But I just can't understand why he didn't take a fight with Garry, I think that was a dumb move. It just seemed like a no brainer in terms of the best move he could make. The build up to the fight, and the pressers alone would have brought so much attention, put his name back in the headlines, which he seems to love, and a win over Garry would've been huge. With how many haters Ian has, Colby would have been a hero to a lot of people if he beat Ian, and it could have resurrected his career. It prob would have been a numbered card instead of a fight night, Ian is undefeated and ranked higher than Buckley so it would have done more for his ranking. Ian would have posed problems, and I would favor him, but I think there was still a path to victory for Colby if he could pressure him, crowd him, take him down. Only thing that makes sense is he didn't want to lose to a guy like Ian? Maybe after Leon, he felt like that was a bad match up. Ian is similar to Leon in that he's a fast, long, patient, crisp striker with decent grappling. Buckley is super fast and explosive, but he's a little more wild and sloppy, and not as technical as those guys. Idk, I don't get it, just seems like a bad move that he may be regretting?
@youtubeconnollyfamily
@youtubeconnollyfamily Ай бұрын
@ I bet he wanted to have the fight with Ian. That’s what was going to happen, but the UFC stepped in and changed it because they realized that they will most likely both win their next coming fights and next year they can have two months of Ian and Colby building up their fight. These are the best trash talkers in the UFC. The UFC is genius and they will promote the crap out of this fight. I guarantee you that’s what happened. Dana White made them change it up so early next year they can promote the crap out of them both fighting one another. Tell me that’s not genius. I don’t think Covington cared. He wanted to fight Ian. He knows time is running out for him with age. I guarantee you the UFC changed it for them.

@@youtubeconnollyfamily Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying that doesn't really make sense to me. First off, it generally doesn't make sense to let a good thing pass unless you feel really confident in the future. And the paths that Ian and Colby are on right now seem to be going in the opposite direction, Ian is young and getting better and climbing the rankings, and Colby is getting older, and starting to slide, so this chance probably isn't going to be around for long. And if they both win their next fights, it's definitely not going to happen next because Ian will be fighting Belal for the belt next year. The only way it would happen after this is if Colby wins his fight and Ian loses

@@FightMoney yeah agree. I honestly think Buckley is the tougher fight though. He’s much more tested in the wrestling and has bigger power. Couldn’t care less about all the outside of the cage stuff, I just don’t see Garry as the elite fighter he tells everyone he is. Thought Buckley was gonna beat him and definitely think Shavkhat will.

If usman was so scared of a challenge why did he choose to fight chimaev. If there was any fight to duck, it was that one. I would argue that chimaev is a harder fight than Ian would be. I think he decided against the fight because he’s looking for fights that will get him an immediate title shot if he won. Ian is good but If I’m usman, I can see how fighting Ian wouldn’t do much for him. That being said, I hope Ian wins because I like his style and confidence.

Exactly! There’s literally NOBODY on the entire f’n roster, in ANY division, who strikes fear more than Khamzat! The notion that Usman is running scared from this soft, bag-o’-milk bodied vegan is absolutely absurd! Usman would drag him to the mat and flat-out MAUL him mercilessly! Ian would never get up!

The magny angle was a poor attempt at gaining clicks and made Ian look immature and foolish. People forget he’s only 27, I think the guy is smart enough to recognise his poor judgement and learn from it. With the energy and self belief radiating off the guy I hope this begins a new wave of fanfare and a fresh start with the core mma audience. Don’t take the confidence as arrogance, he seems like a genuinely good person to me. All the best Ian.

Ironically ian is talking smack about Colby for needing to attach himself to fighters for relevancy, when the reason hes getting traction now is only bcuz hes fighting Shavkat... Its not like MMA media at large has been jawing on about Ian McGary in between this fight and his last... His name gets brought up alongside Shavkat and then the conversation goes immediately to Shavkat... Hmmf... This guy... Ian Gary... Watever...

Ian has beaten D. Rod , Neil Magny , Geoff Neal and MVP . He's starting to work his way to the top . Shavkat is #3 - Garry is #7 . If he wins this he will get a1st contenders fight . Usman and Edwards both think they 've earned the right to Duck a fight . They won't fight even once a year .

I wasn't a fan of how he treated Neil Magny, but I've got to say the hate this man has received has been undeserved. He talks a lot yeah, but he knows how to sell fights and backs it up in the octagon. Like it or not, the UFC is better with him around. This interview was incredible. Also, f**k Colby.

I had a bad taste in my mouth after he dominated and put a serious beating on a veteran fighter named Neil Magny but after words was still very hostile and disrespectful. To all the people asking why .. respect to taking the fight with Shavkat. I’m guessing Shavkat won’t taunt a man if he puts a whoopin on him after.😊
