12:25 isn’t the seal meant to go the other way around?

Hi thanks for coming back , of course there’s every chance we made a mistake so we appreciate your input. Which seal are you referring to ? There are three to my knowledge.

@@martingray4005 at the 12min:25second mark, the seal next to the needle roller bearing in the stub axle should go the other way around I would’ve thought? With the sealing lip and garter spring on the side with the CV grease or oil.

Thank you for that , we need to investigate, and check it out ….

Hi ( Martin here ) Ian and I spent some time reviewing that seal along with reviewing other youtube channels. Ian is positive it has been installed correctly, from my side of the fence the jury is out as it's rather ambiguous as to the correct orientation.don;t worry you've sent me down a particular 'rabbit hole' so I'll pursue your question to get a 100% answer. Apparently 'if' we're at fault here the situation won't lead to a catastrophic break down, better not - its my Landy 😂!

@@martingray4005yeah no worries, I install them the other way around with the garter/spring to the the side with the fluid you want to keep in and the flat side to the outside of the component as that’s how oil seals are supposed to be installed. However, Land Rover can’t seem to make up their minds on this issue and have put documentation out showing them installed both ways around so I just go with what I know as it makes more sense to install them that way round. Like you say, nothing bad will come of it and the factory even put them both ways around. One thing I will say is Land Rovers workshop manuals have a lot of mistakes and irregularities in them so go with what you know and what makes more sense
