I don't know about you but, minus the time Ian was truly at the peak of his illness, he never looked this lifeless with Mickey and that's why I say no one else comes close. Mickey injected life into Ian and crazy or not, Mickey made him happy and loved and protected him in a way few ever would. For him Ian is it. As he said so himself, he's his "partner, lover, family". The scene in this video is one of the many (MANY) that prove so.

He definitely appeared quite lost. Personally I think we lost Ian for a while. The Ian who went to get the gun back and crashed Mickey's wedding. Didn't get him back until S9 when he didn't run and went to jail. In both the Caleb and Trevor relationships Ian had no voice. Everything was dictated by their wants and needs. He fit their molds. Ideally they could have given him a storyline outside of a relationship. Though I suppose that was what gay Jesus was.

I really hate how people think that Trevor and Caleb were better relationships than Ian and Mickey, because they present as more socially acceptable. These relationships were not equal. Ian didn't have a voice. On the bridge with Caleb Ian couldn't answer when he was asked what he wanted,. His feelings were not a priority. Instead ian asked Caleb what he wanted. I see Caleb as an extension of Ian's daddy issues. Trevor wouldn't accept when Ian said that he wanted to be friends (a friend was all that he needed) but instead manipulated and gave ultimatums to have a sexual relationship. Only with Mickey did Ian have a voice. Their history made them equal.
