That 250k front squat was fucking nuts. Can't wait to see you compete again man. Good luck with the shoulder recovery.

Jaw dropping level of lifting considering you had a torn rotator cuff. I hope you have a speedy recovery, and all is going well.

I was genuinely sad when I heard you had shoulder surgery. I hope your recovery is smooth and fast and you're doing 170/210 ++ again soon.. Good luck ian.

Yeah, it was disappointing for me too, but I couldn't get past 155 195 with the torn rotator cuff. I'm starting some squats again and I'll be back. I'm not done!

Hi Ian, I'm a bit of a beginner in olympic weightlifting, both very complicated movements as you know all too well, and I'm just looking for one tip in particular. At the moment I think I've figured out the C&J, just trying to master the triple extension and pulling myself under the bar, it's just such a quick movement and needs so much coordination, but I'm getting there. The main thing I'm struggling with is where exactly the bar is meant to make contact in the snatch i.e where exactly the bar is meant to hit on your body during triple extension, because whenever I do it I seem to hit either my pubic bone (at least that's what I think it is) or my lower abs, but not sure if that's correct. I don't have a coach so I've just been going off pretty much a steady diet of videos from your old stomping ground: cal strength. What I've noticed whilst watching athletes like Luis Mosquera is that they seem to actually push the bar upwards with their hips rather than away from the per se. Would really appreciate a pointer as I'm extremely keen to become proficient in these movements.

P.S. Some fucking sick lifts in that video.

Power House Fitness Contact on the snatch should be a bit above the pubic bone. People do it differently, but the most important thing is to keep it close and move fast and keep it simple. To this day, I don't think about any stages of the lift other than pull hard and then pull harder on the finish.

Man this guy is lifting huge weight without putting on size. He's totally doing weightlifting wrong!!! Lol at that other guy. Keep on keeping on Ian. Good luck with your recovery!

Sweet lifts man! How's the recovery process going? Lifting light or full on laying off from lifting? Thanks!

Hi Ian! Very nice video! Any particular program that I can do to become strong like you? I like your style of lifting and I hope I can become like you one day. ;)

Falcon Fighting Just do the lifts, get your legs strong and always work on improving the weakest link. And don't waste time and energy on exercises that don't resemble competition lifts.

Awesome Ian! How does your training look like? Do you put workouts like pulling of blocks etc in your training and deadlifts? And do you often seek your 1RM with the cl&j, front squats etc or more heavy sets low reps like 6x2, 5x5? Thank you so much! I have so many questions but I feel so honoured you responded :D
@iwilson18949 жыл бұрын
Falcon Fighting no blocks. Pulls yes, dead lifts not really because they're too slow to carry over as well. Almost all singles for the lifts and I try to get consistent with the largest possible weight...low volume and max effort almost all the time. No problem replying&good luck with training!

Are you going to this years pan Ams? I noticed you haven't competed for a while in any big meets.

Patrykpie I tore my rotator cuff at the C&K meet last September and didn't know it was torn until a month ago. I'm recovering from surgery now.

Just some constructive criticism, my opinion doesn't have to mean a thing. But, Ian you have looked the same size wise for a while now. I'm not an idiot, this isn't bodybuilding, but have you ever thought about putting on some muscle mass? As a weightlifter you lift heavy all the time, but for more potential strength why not build bigger muscles? Seriously, and your front squats? How do you expect for those kinds of reps to transfer over properly to your clean when they're so sloppy. Of course naturally your form will break down when going so heavy, but why not lift more efficiently? Of course you're Ian Wilson but, core work dude. I'm just a fan bro, no disrespect meant at all. Good luck at Pan Ams.

Adding muscle will likely put him in the highest weight class. Just like fighting sports, weightlifting has weight classes.
@thejmoneyshow9 жыл бұрын
Fs ratio to clean ratio is large, if you watch his cleans he uses minimal effort, I say it transfers quite well. When someone shows your their 1 rep working sets do you think he started at that weight or worked up to it? Don't look to deep into it, I'm sure dude has it under control.
@damianribera34089 жыл бұрын
Have you ever watched him lift at meets? He seems to consistently miss a lot of lifts, lifting consistently should be a thing that is involved in all of his lifts. Not just his front squats and cleans.

Damian Ribera My goal in life is to lift big weights not win a 6/6 bracelet. I also had the highest sinclair of any American lifter in 2014.
