Hi back again to comment, doing my MOCKS particularly English is tomorrow and we had to submit our official IO, EE, HL essay the day before mocks. So, now im studying and I'm cooked, I just wanted to say how you guys are literally my lifesavers and i use you guys to study everything. Im gonna have a exam for this tomorrow it's 3 hours in total for 2 hours 15 minutes on analyzing a advertisement and a cartoon then another 1 hour no break for a comparative essay its discussing paper 1/2 and honestly i believe my whole class is under prepared thanks alot for this and wish me luck

Thanks for you content! Although I am able to analyze techniques and recognize their purpose, I can't seem to organize my paragraph in a good way and I also struggle a lot with devising a thesis statement (in the part where you have to say 'through the use of...' or 'by ... '). If you guys could make a short video about this it would really help and I am sure there are other students who struggle with this as well. Thanks!

IB English Guys thank you for this great video! I was wondering how much time would you suggest to spend on planning/ annotating/ reading for the Standard level Paper 1?

We think 15-20 minutes is good. Reading carefully and making a rudimentary outline is critical for a solid Paper 1.

Hi, thank you for your great content! Do you recommend any particular way of organizing the textual analysis, such as organizing the paragraphs by stylistic devices, ideas, or by analyzing the text section by section? I've noticed that the structure used in your samples varies, so I was curious about how you think when you plan what each paragraph should be centered around.

This is always a tricky question and you are right that it totally depends on the text I am writing about. I find myself organizing by parts of the text quite frequently but also trying to find a RICH IDEA that connects with that part of the text. I don’t like a Paper 1 that jumps all over the place and a paper that is organized logically with a clear overall thesis and a close eye on the guiding question will usually score better. If I’m writing a Paper 1 on an opinion article, most times I’ll start my first body paragraph and discuss the beginning of the article (with a rich idea). Then my next body paragraph will tackle the middle of the article and so on. As I said, these decisions depend on the text and the guiding question. Looking at our sample Paper 1’s will help you see our patterns.

Hi, thank you for making this amazing content! Will it be possible for you to provide a sample paper on infographic analysis too? I am struggling to incorporate all the conventions and in-depth analysis into a full paper, it would be super helpful if there is a sample paper to help :)

Not related to infographics but generally, for exams when we have to remember information abt books and text types we have read. How do we condense it, organise and understand the contents of a book for example?

We need to create our own study guide and materials that we study and internalize. Being able to quickly summarize a novel and also recall the contents is one of the things we need to do as we study for Paper 2.

Could you have videos for the different types of infographics which you had mentioned. Particularly resume. Its smth thats rare and isnt explored much but is a potential text type

I doubt a resume would appear on a Paper 1. We have many videos about different graphic texts and will continue to explore different texts.

Hello, I have a question. How can u identify the most relevant elements to analyse ? You guys mentioned a lot of interesting things but I’m not sure how to organise all this information.

USe a logical structure. Consider exploring sections of the infographic, one at a time. Top to bottom. Think about the topic or idea of each section. Let this be your body paragraph topic . Then discuss the FEATURES of that section. This might help.
