I've been a commercial cleaner for many years. The main tech info I need is the motor size which the company ads don't supply either. The sound of the motor and the close up of the suction in this vid is the only spec I have to go on for the suction strength of the machine, obviously the lower the wattage the weaker the suck the cheaper the price the storter the life. What I saw and heard convince me this thing is passable until it wears. But, as usual, it comes down to how the operator handles/treats the product that will determine its lifespan. The after clean is the most important aspect: do it thoroughly! each and every time.

@@ibaisaic No, my hose never split. I broke the end in which you insert the brush during a time when my fingers weren't working well. I just threw my hose in the trash today. I purchased a replacement hose on ebay for just 16.50 shipped in the US. It arrived today; fits and functions fine. I had started to throw my unit in the trash but decided instead to see what might be on ebay. This broken unit had been sitting in a closet for over two years. I wonder what it would have cost me to send a hose to you in the UK.

I am so pleased you have reviewed this machine as Mum has the Little Green Machine (also from Bissell) and it was notorious for not being able to be taken apart to be cleaned properly, especially the nozzle at the end. I am so pleased that the clear plastic bit on the Spot Clean can be removed and that the tank can be cleaned as well. I actually contacted Bissell's Customer Support to see which one was the best for stair cleaning (as that what the Little Green Machine was used for, both on Mum's and my stair carpets) and I never even heard from them..so, again, thank you for placing this review on your channel as I have now made my mind up and am going to buy a Spot Clean right now!!

I'm totally in love with the Bissel and will definitely be buying one for my small business. Kids mess on car carpets is a little challenge with my Little Steamer so the bissel will be a welcome adition to my equipment. Keep up the awesome videos and take care

The Bissell is great for cleaning accidental spillages and it can be used in a car, but unfortunately the hose has split on this one and I can't get a spare, in the UK anyway. If you want something to use in a car detailing business I would get something that will last longer. If you have Numatic in your country, I would recommend the George multifunction cleaner as it is much better built, has much greater suction power and a very long hose.
@DriftKingToBe6 жыл бұрын
Thankyou heaps for that tip mate .... That's a HUGE help since I am just starting my business .... I'm on a tight budget as far as start-up costs go but naturally prefer the best value for money. How long did that one last before the hose split? I will look into the ones that you have mentioned and will also look into the parts availability for the Bissel here in Aus. Never know, I might be able to get ya a replacement hose here haha Thoroughly enjoyed this review and cheers for the reply mate.

Hey mate, I actually just realised that this video is reviewing the basic Bissell Spot cleaner, I'm currently looking at the Professional model which can be purchased here in Aus for $200 ... as an entry level appliance I think it would be a handy little appliance for my business and hopefully go a better quality shampooer in the future. I'm checking the availability of spare parts etc here in Aus and IF I can get replacement hoses for both models then I'd be happy to get a price on a replacement hose for you mate. This is the one that I'm interested in purchasing www.harveynorman.com.au/bissell-spotclean-professional-carpet-and-upholstery-cleaner.html

Great Review..the newer ones have a more heavy duty brush for bigger and deeper stains...you can't hold it up over the stain to spray the water, or the water will spray everywhere...it needs to be down into the carpet, and to take the cover off requires a flat head screwdriver wedged slightly between the top of the cover and the hose area...where it dips...lift up and it will pop right off etc...to clean the cleaning head

Yup, I have a somewhat incontinent elderly dog and I use my Bissell almost every day. After a while though the tube gets really smelly. I figured out that if you fill a bathroom sink with some water and disinfectant, and suck it through the tube, it'll get rid of the smell. DON'T use too much water in the sink though as it really can't cope with too much!

The tank is more than adequate for the job it’s designed for, ie, picking up accidental spillages. It can be used to clean upholstery, car interiors or stair carpets and in those instances several empties and refills will be needed. I can tell you that this and similar machines have saved me having to replace carpets prematurely, especially when it came to cleaning up after dogs that weren’t housetrained. Bissell do a Pro model with a larger capacity that requires less filling and emptying.

Dear Roger, Thank you for your very funny, interesting and informative videos. I have bought 2 Sebo vacuums (Felix and a smashing K1 Pet 1200watt. I always have 2 vacuums as I have 3 floors!) because you and others out there rate them so highly. I’m not disappointed despite always having had Miele in the past. I had The Alternative, just died after 18 years daily use and The Solution S500 still going strong after 18 years but now in the garage for the car. I have just purchased one of these Bissell spot cleaners despite many reviewers finding that the hose splits and cannot be replaced. I wondered if your hose had split after 18 months of use? I won’t give it huge use as I don’t have pets. I’ve got some annoying stains in the car from my sons eating chocolate and it melts into the fabric. Thanks again for your hard work. Best wishes Deborah
@ibaisaic6 жыл бұрын
The machine in the video belongs to my Mum and yes, her hose has split and she had to put duck tape on it. I can confirm that Bissell do not supply the hose as a spare and I can't find it on any UK spares websites. It is widely available in the USA though, but after adding shipping and taxes, it works out too expensive. The problem seems to be that the hose is a bit short to wrap around the cleaner without stretching it, causing a strain on the hose which eventually splits it. If you dont wrap the hose around the machine after use, it could last longer without splitting. I also have the Pro version which has a larger capacity and a longer hose, but that may also split in time. The other option is the Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner which seems fairly robust, but I don't know if that will develop faults in time.
@deborahpurgavie89106 жыл бұрын
Thank you Roger. I’ve purchased the newer model which is black. I’ll let you know if it is any better. I’ve got some duck tape! My old Miele has got duck tape on it. It still works. I also bought the Bissell deluxe last year on your recommendations. It is a revelation compared to my 28 year old Vax carpet washer/vacuum, now gone to the happy hunting ground. Deborah
@kenmac33416 жыл бұрын
Just stumbled across your video after googling Bissell Australia to get their details to claim under warranty for a split hose :( Love the machine for pet accidents but we only purchased it in December 2017 & the hose has split already right where it goes into the base of the hand nozzle. You are 100% correct in that storing the hose in the holder is the cause of the split so I DO NOT recommend storing it as designed. I have just been wrapping my temporarily duct taped hose around the base using the base clip & then draping it over the top of the machine. Bissell's approach is to send out a brand new bare bones machine with just the hose & power cord (no tanks). I then just swap my tanks onto the new machine. Seems an odd way of doing it but I guess it saves them the cost of the tanks! The hose alone is apparently NOT replaceable. They told me to expect my new bare bones unit in 5-7 days... so let's see!! Apart from the split hose the unit does do a very good job!

We had the pet version of this. Big design flaw, the hose goes through a ninety degree kink to rest in its storage cradle. Over the course of eleven months this strain causes it to split. Bissel claim it's my fault and demanded I purchase a replacement hose from their website. Said hose is out of stock and no longer available. One assumes as so many people have had to replace them. Bissel plain refused to help. After a bit of a battle I got a credit refund from the retailer.

Couple of issues. If your carpet was scotch guarded as mine was, it makes a huge difference. When I first moved into an apartment with a new, very light colored carpet, within 2 days I spilled what must have been a quart of Clorox. Shudder. Nothing changed in the carpet. Wow and wow. Because my hands are not particularly strong, the bottom to empty the dirty water is a very messy pain. I know pressure cookers were and are like that, but I'd rather it not be like this. I'd rather a latch.

Yes I've seen the cordless version demonstrated, bit we don't have it in the UK at the moment. I think I prefer the corded version as you have to ensure that the battery is always charged in the cordless one or you could find that when you go to clean up a spill, the cleaner won't work.

Really nice review, i own the pro unit. Given that, i´d prefer if it was made somewhere other than China. The build quality is therefore not really great, especially the noise is quite annoying.

I just ordered one of these, I thought that the waste tank would hold more though, makes me wonder whether they limit the size to prevent the device from being operated for too long? What percentage of the cleaning solution gets sucked back out of the carpet?

The tank is small because this is a spot cleaner designed for quick clean ups and accidental spillages. If you need something to clean larger areas, then you are better off with a full sized machine with larger tanks. The compact size of cleaners like this makes them easy to store and use in the car or on carpeted stairs. I don’t think the size of the tanks has any connection with the length of time the machine is used as you can keep emptying the dirty water and refilling the solution. The motor will probably last a lot longer than the hose which is prone to splitting in this and other Bissell Spot cleaners I have owned.

@@ibaisaic It looks like the waste container only holds a fraction of the cleaner that you put into the other container though? I thought the two containers would hold the same volume.

It's great for fresh pet stains, but for older ones you may need the oxyboost formula and pre treat them.

Hello - I have this but the clean water + solution just stays in the clean tank, so I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong. Do you hold the trigger just to release the liquid to spot clean, or do you hold the trigger while you are suctioning up as well?

Great video. I'm wondering if you've tried it on furniture. I need to clean the tops of attached cushions on my couch, where my dog likes to perch while barking at the mailman.
@ibaisaic3 жыл бұрын
You can use it on furniture as long as it’s suitable for wet cleaning.

Something about the dirty water getting sucked up the nozzle feels nostalgic.
