Ibanez FRH10N Nylon Classical Acoustic Electric Guitar | Review and First Impressions

I like these, as it's not so jarring when you regularly swap between steel string guitars and classical/nylon - which I do often - and it's _way cheaper_ than Martin's version, which also appeals to players of both nylon and steel with its similarly narrower nut width. Anyways, I enjoyed your take on this one!

@@MarkChan I’m totally a classical guitar player and love that repertoire the best. These guitars are really nice and made well. Nit the traditional sounding classical guitar but I needed a slightly smaller neck width so this fit that requirement well. I just purchased the Tim Henson signature Guitar to replace this one mainly because I wanted the volume control at the guitar. I will have a video uploaded probably next week sometime on that. I always second-guess myself and have thought many times a day that I should’ve just spent the extra $200 on the fancier signature model but what the hell… This one is a pretty good sounding classical guitar. At least I’ve been able to play a little bit more of that style that I like.

Hey Brian! That is a beauty looking guitar my friend. Wow! And yes I do know (as I suspect most do) how it goes proclaiming I am not going to buy anymore such & such! Lol! I'm certainly no axe efficienado, but you did a great job of describing it, visually and audibly. Love the show 'n tell! Sounds fantastic even through the phone. Hey Mark, thank you so much for taking the time and watching this video of mine. I have a couple of microphones that attach to my iPhone now that I have been experimenting with. I’m going to see how that goes and get some more tunes uploaded as soon as possible. I actually bought an acoustic still string guitar before this one, but haven’t done it because it has issues and I’m not keeping it. I might though do one before I sell. What the heck. I’m only bringing this up because The guitar series is called the Canadian series I believe and has a maple leaf inlay on the 12th fret, which caught my eye in the guitar shop… Anyway, I think now I will make this video to explain what to look out for with guitar shops and what they do with a guitar that isn’t up to specs… this guitar is really cool… I’ve been able to practice my classical guitar music more without my hands hurting so bad with a larger neck.

I’ve seen those fender guitars before and literally thought about getting one. By far fender necks are my favorite. Don’t get me wrong. I love my Gibson SG but fender always feels the best to me. This little Ibanez is really fun to play and I plan on doing quite a few, uploads using it in the future.

Wait a minute! You said no more guitars. Or did you just say you were going to slow down? 😂 Lucky it showed up not damaged. These shipping companies have been getting pretty crazy in how they handle packages. It really is a pretty piece of wood. It’s a very interesting looking guitar. I’ve not seen one like it, but then I don’t shop for them. I suppose those who play guitar may be familiar with that style. Nice little tune. Almost sounds familiar to me. I don’t know why. Has it been in a movie or tv show? I think the sound is good. But I’m definitely not an expert. Haha you admitted there was supposed to be no guitars this year. Too funny! Well you made it a couple month into the year before caving. Guess that’s not bad 😂

I think my wife is going to kill me, Felix! This is actually the third guitar I bought this year… The starcaster I think I purchased in February and is pretty much the only one out of the squire series that I’m keeping. I bought a steel string acoustic electric guitar about a month or so ago and haven’t done a review on it yet. I might try that this weekend. I’m not keeping it but will have to explain when o do my review. Anyway, I have been really wanting to get back into my classical guitar playing, and this neck feels way more comfortable than a normal classical guitar. I’m planning on doing quite a few tunes here and there on it and uploading to my channel. I appreciate you watching and commenting as always.

I am looking at one of these for the same reason... getting old and struggling with the 2" classical. This seems like a good compromise between that and a 1.75" electric or steel acoustic. Seems like the newer ones have different electronics.

@@user-df2kk2gk5u yes most definitely. This sounds really good thru an amp. Of course being thin and no front sound hole the sound without an amp is not full but not terrible sounding either. Now I traded mine in for the Tim Henson model because of the electronics. I have a video on this as well. This TOD model doesn’t allow you to adjust volume treble or bass from the guitar. I wish they would have had the better electronics in this TOD model as I really liked the natural wood look. Definitely either guitar neck is more comfortable at I believe 1.81 inches. I’ve got the tobacco burst on layaway. While playing very little on it before I put it up to purchase I noticed the action to be fairly high when traveling up the neck. Is this typical of a classical style guitar?

I bet it will be beautiful!! In my experience the action is usually higher on a traditional classical guitar. These Ibanez guitars are not traditional and are designed for electric guitar players to have a classical guitar that is easily interchangeable between the two types of guitars. I needed something that was in between a classical and electric on neck with. Plus it’s a damn neat looking guitar too!! I just ordered the Tim Henson model yesterday and will be trading this one back. The main thing with me is the action on these guitars. This one is absolutely perfect so I’m hoping the signature model will be just as good. I’ll do a first impressions video next week if I get it before July 4th!!

I have the same thumb issue and I just ordered this guitar also...ok. so i was able to sit down at guitar center and play this Ibanez and the similar cordoba stage...i am a finger player and it was a toss up for me...the Cordova has a better unplugged sound and its a pretty guitar with the high gloss finish but the neck on the Ibanez was so comfortable..the action was better on the Ibanez...if you can, sit down and try both guitars...the Godins are higher quality and price but a heavy guitar...so not for me. 0:12

I played thru a few guitars at GC as well. This Ibanez just simply plays better imho. The Tim Henson signature model is a beautiful guitar and I still might end up with one but I play mine thru my Line 6 Spider V 120 and it sounds so amazing. Without the amp I simply find it great to practice with and not disturb the rest of the house. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch my video and comment. I’m working on a few tunes to record so definitely drop back by when you can. 👊🏼🍻
