Ibanez Paul Gilbert Mikro Guitar - Credible Instrument or Toy?

As a big fan of Ibanez i find their slim wide radius necks far easier to play compared to Febders far too thick small radius ones. I have often looked at these and thought, perhaps not, the reverse headstock and no tone contol put me off. But if i need a compact travel guitar these would be on my short list. Great demo mate! Gotta remember with ceramic pickups though, a lot of them are designed for higher gain tones, so complaints of them sounding thin are often from Classic Rock players who don't have enough saturation in their sound. I reckon those stock Ibanez pickups would sound better for 80's AOR, Hair Metal or Shred ala Paul Gilbert / Racer X! Keep on Rocking everyone! \m/

If the control cavity is big enough, you could add a tone pot, just use a Brad point drill bit to lessen the tear out and work up to the right size hole.

Idly browsing the Andertons summer sale in between the initial unboxing vid and this one, I noticed a familiar guitar. 1 left in stock at £185 at the time of writing. Seems to be slightly the cheapest uk deal if you're quick.

Knowing you went to 9s instead of 10s after your ring finger accident, how did you find the shorter scale regarding bending? You didn't mention the gauge but usually the 3/4 ones are equipped with heavier strings to avoid overbending - or at least make them feel more like their big brothers.

IIRC Paul Gilbert already has a large reach on the fretboard, so the shorter scale length allows him to play the kind of intervals on one string that most of us need to start tapping to get at.
