Digging and respect your passion and enthusiasm for guitars. I just want to play. But knowing the intricacies of the instruments seems to be such a deep topic in and of itself. This guitar is such a beauty, and im totally jelly of your collection lol. Looking forward to your next videos using this bad boy!

Thanks for the review. I think about buying these model but in other color, but as I sometimes tend to make impulse buys I decided to wait at least for a few month to see if I still want it(going a few times to a music shop to play on that guitar for some time). I want to buy it not because it's Vai's signature(which is a nice point), but because it's just the best guitar that I played. I'm not a pro(but plan to write music when I become better 😅), and rn I play mostly my RG652AHMFX-RPB and LTD Mirage Deluxe ´87 and want to get another one, but nicer, so I consider getting this one or ESP E-2 M2, and reviews like yours help a lot. Thanks for you work!

@@HighZ The RG5320 looks and sounds amazing. I've been trying to buy it for some time now but its never in stock. I got the blue RG5120M instead but it ended up being damaged through shipping so i returned it, not sure if i should get the same one, or wait until i can get a RG5320. Have you ever played an rg5120? If so, would you say there's a big difference?
@HighZ3 ай бұрын
@@onyxgaming7945 Bummer that happened! There isn't going to be a big difference if at all between these guitars. There will be extremely slight differences in neck profile between two of the same guitar but between models this close, no. They'll both have the same playability and balance. Get the one that makes you happy and hopefully the shipping company will get their act together!

Great vid!! Would love to know how you compare the Pia to your j.custom playability & feel wise?
@HighZ3 ай бұрын
Good question! I made a video about this but basically the j custom has an RG body with an ultra thin neck, whereas the pia has a body that's like a mix between rg and stratocaster and has a slightly thicker neck. I find the pia's neck great for all day playing and the j customs body feels slightly more comfortable
@florianbenz12952 ай бұрын
we definately got the same guitar & neck favours. I bought me a PIA now after palying my first & only JEM since 1989. Tbh it feels a bit like cheating a girlfriend (i guess it feels like that), as this is a guitar I was shocked loved within 30 min of playing. I like my j.custom a lot but I love the PIA. Thx for your content.

Great video, I love my Pia in blue powder but I'd love it more if it came with a Lo Pro instead of the Edge. Other than that is perfect, Also I set my pickups quite low so I hadn't noticed the surface of the pickups messing with my pick or my fingernails at all
@HighZ3 ай бұрын
The lo pro would make it absolutely perfect! I love how that bridge feels the most, although the edge is pretty nice too. Lowering the pickups would definitely work but I do really like how it sounds with the pickups at this height
@glenrussell52423 ай бұрын
How is the gold hardware holding up? Especially the saddles on the bridge for palm muting? I'm worried aboutn it fading in like a month or so 😅
@HighZ3 ай бұрын
Good question. The gold hardware has held up perfectly on this so far. The dark nickel hardware on my rg5320 and 652 has corroded and worn away for reference

I'm curious about trying a scalloped fretboard and wondering how much of a difference it actually makes. Do you notice a significant difference when switching between guitars, particularly when doing vibrato or bends in the upper register?
@mylogify3 ай бұрын
No finger friction on fretboard, bendings are smoother. Chords can be a bit out of tune because you may press a bit hard. The 4 frets are scalloped on this. A lot of videos on how to scallop by yourself as well. I tried Malmsteen strat in the store and many of those guitars high e string is so close to fretboard edges, even on the Fender website it’s obviously visible, and many people indicated on thomann reviews and some found it uncomfortable. Really it’s how Yngwie plays, and seen his guitars the high E is so close to the end of the fretboard lol.😀
@gstvermilion3 ай бұрын
bends are like the same, vibrato or bend+vibrato is 20-30% easier and smoother in those 4 scalloped frets
@Peaceful_Romancer3 ай бұрын
@@mylogify Yeah, I see no reason to scallop the entire board. My dream guitar would be the OOP ESP Kiko Loureiro Signature with scallops from the 12th to 27th fret. And man, I use Yngwie's signature 08-46 strings in standard tuning and you really need a light touch on that. Must be crazy in Eb on a scalloped guitar.
@mylogify3 ай бұрын
@@Peaceful_Romancer Oh right he uses 8’s. Interesting strings 😀.
@HighZ3 ай бұрын
It doesn't seem that noticeable when you try it on the upper frets, but when I switch back to a guitar without it, it feels like there's so much wood there it's crazy. Never tried a guitar with scalloping down lower though

What’s your favorite fingerboard radius?
@HighZ2 ай бұрын
Depends on the neck profile and number of strings for me. I really like solar's choices. I play the best on Ibanez's prestige 6 strings, so it figures 430mm is my favorite radius
@helloyu62702 ай бұрын
@@HighZ do you enjoy compound radius at all? On perfectly set up guitars is it true that a compound radius cant get as low of an action as a standard radius fretboard due to the frets being higher arc near the nut?
@HighZ2 ай бұрын
@helloyu6270 in my experience I find a good setup vs a bad setup makes more of a difference rather than if the fretboard is compound or not. I do tend to prefer a uniform radius. If the compound starts off flat enough i.e. 16in, I don't notice it
