I just sent back a Cort A5PLUSSC & purchased an Ibanez Premium. To me the Cort’s B string was non existent above the 12th fret. Not so with the Ibanez. The Cort’s neck seemed a little more chunky as well. But I love Cort Basses overall. I wanted the A5 Ultra Ash but they can only be found in Europe. If I didn’t like it I didn’t want to have to send it back.

I had all fender basses, the SR300 E and a Warwick Corvette and send all back. I really love the sound gear neck but I’m a metal guy who wants to play 4 strings and as such Ibanez lets me standing in the rain. All black basses are cheap or 5er so I was forced to buy the leas edgy color for a 4 string and that’s the natural burst. But common Ibanez, give me the possibility to buy a iron label 4 string pls!

I liked the sound of my BTB675, but it is heavy, has sharp instead of contoured cadges, and haa a wide neck. I got an SR1306, but it's taking me a little time to get all the settings hust right for the sound I want. I got a lot closer last night my adjusting my compressor/limiter. As the pickups and preamp have a different output I'm doing little tweaks to get the tone I want. The SR is much easier to wear and much faster to play.

I'd like it better with humbuckers.
@Synsizer3 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't have the same tonal range I don't believe. I bought it specifically for the Nordstrands. This bass is butt kick'n. I added a noise gate for places where noise comes through the pickups. It did not change the character of the sound whatsoever and kills the noise when a note is not being played. Worked flawlessly. This bass sounds and plays great. Exactly what I wanted in this price range.
@CordScott3 жыл бұрын
@@Synsizer A noise gate seems like a reasonable solution, but for me I just can't stand the hum, so I'd prefer humbuckers. The first thing I do to any bass with single coils is rip them out for something hum cancelling. Nordstrand makes a double coil in the same size I think.
@Synsizer3 жыл бұрын
@@CordScott Totally get it. Your me several months back. I was determined to get humbuckers ONLY, no exceptions. Then I picked up one of these and immediately heard the exact sound I was looking for. And quickly found a half dozen others useable in other songs and genres. It kind of upset me cause I knew I found that ever so hard to find sweet spot sound and yet, the pups were single coil..yuk! Noise was VERY low, but I hate ANY noise whatsoever. I tried many more humbucker basses and finally gave up. This was the one. Most places I would hear no to very little noise except MY music room. Figures, right? Anyway, I ordered a 34 dollar sonic cake noise wiper mini pedal due to reviews and BAM, problem over. I do mean over too. Doesn't cut off early at all when using my compressor/sustainer. But does cut off immediately if muted or sound drops below my set threshold. As far as noise when playing: when playing the noise floor is SO low you can't hear it even using bass only. With other instruments playing we are really talking absolute zero. After paying over 1500 with tax for the bass, I really didn't care in the least to spend 34 bucks on the pedal, especially that resolves the issue completely. And yes, I have heard the big blades (humbucker version of the singles) and though they are very nice, they just lose a bit of what the singles have to offer, and I wanted it ALL. If you ever hear a set of singles you really fall for, try giving the pedal a quick try and you may be surprised, I was. Current set up is Peterson strobostomp pedal, Ampeg classic preamp pedal, Ampeg compressor pedal, Sonic Cake Noise Wiper and a Hartke Bass Attack 2 for recording or DI. Getting an Eden I90 chorus pedal and a TC electronic Up/Down Octave pedal very soon. Amp is Fender Rumble 500 and adding the extension cab next month for playing out. Enjoy your bass!
@CordScott3 жыл бұрын
@@Synsizer Thanks. Seems like a good solution. I guess I just have some sorta OCD about the hum, or my ears are sensitive to it. I play a lot through my mesa preamp pedal at home when learning songs for gigs so any noise is super noticeable. And at gigs I've always hated single coil hum though front of house. I know the gate pedal takes care of that problem, but at the end of the day I kinda want a self contained solution in the bass itself. I guess I just can't mentally get past it and yes I know its illogical.
