It's weird the fact that I can't stand Ibanez bass necks. They are too way thin for my taste.
@t.j.meechan6823 жыл бұрын
@@esposoman before I played an Ibanez i thought that I preferred my Music Man. I still love them both, but the Ibanez neck is just so much faster. I think i might prefer the Ibanez neck for a 5 string and Music Man profile for a 4 string. Everyone has their preferences though.

The David Ellefson Jackson CBX IV has the perfect thickness neck, and most sleek feel out of all of the basses I've played. I have a Warwick, Ibanez and Fender precision and the Jackson beats them all by a long shot.

I have an SR655 with a Nordstrand P/J pick up configuration. It is active but I choose to play it mostly in passive mode. I viewed this video with great interest as I get the same warmth and punch as you illustrate here. I always think it's a bit of shame that Ibanez don't give their basses actual names. The model I play is discontinued but there is an updated version with an added mid-eq switch, similar to the one on the SR1305SB. IMO, Ibanez basses, especially in this mid-range sector of the market, represent excellent value for money. I would be interested in seeing what an Ibanez P or J bass would turn out like - not that I've heard an rumours... I think Ibanez' manufacturing standards are first class.

I like the SoundGear design. Even though I prefer a wider spacing, I don't find the SR's 16.5mm too much of a squeeze. My backup 5-string is a 1993 SR1305PD with that nice Padauk body and the Warick style Bubinga /Wenge neck. Main 5 is a Modulus Q5. Being so old it only has the J type pickups but they sound fine. My main 5 is a Modulus Q5. My fretless is an SR05 sporting EMGs with hum-cancelling coils sitting beneath them. It was customised for Dave Pegg and defretted mid-US Jethro Tull tour by Ibanez 'cos Ian Anderson had just written a song with Steve Bailey and wanted it in the set for the 2nd half of the tour. So Dave needed a fretless and fast. Quite apart from all it's Tull story though, it's a killer fretless and that's what really matters.

Lovely bass!!! I have one question. I would love to buy myself the Darkglass Alpha Omega 500, however I can’t really find a great cabinet, in order to maintain the amps full power capabilities. It’s 500w at 4ohms if I am right. I cannot find a cabinet which would have those ratings. So my question is: Which bass cabinet would be perfect for the AO 500? I would be happy if you gave me a couple of examples. Thanks!

My personal opinion would be something like a Gallien Krueger 410RBH. I believe you can get it in a 4ohm or 8ohm, and they sound amazing. I have the 8ohm handling 800 watts paired with its 115 buddy and its an incredible pair.

No, the pretty body wood doesn't make it sound better. It's pretty, and gets you to part with $1,400. If you do get paid bass work, and maybe put another higher end bass against the cost, sure. Could cost you very little money overall, and will look extra groovy on stage. Seems to me that all, or nearly all of the SR basses are workhorse chameleons that sound like a P-bass on the neck pickup solo'd.

I love Ibanez basses, but the narrow stringspacing is just not working for me. Since i started playing 6 string bass years ago, i had to say goodbye to Ibanez. I bought a Prestige SR5006 years ago, and i had to take it to a luthier and convert it from a 6 string to a 5 string with 18mm stringspacing. I realy wish that they would at least give people some options. If they made a wider stringspacing, then i would buy Ibanez again, even though i have 5 costum basses.
@jonsidell33383 жыл бұрын
If you ever see a sound gear 5 string with a W at the end of the product number it means the bridge has 18mm spacing. The Adam Nitti signature is also 18mm. The single cutaway Soundgear basses also have 18mm spacing, even the 6. There are a few, and if you like Ibanez they are worth considering. Take care!
