For example , a video in HD which is approx. 5 minutes i length may render @ 1GB . I would strongly suggest rendering all videos (if you want HD) in 720P or lower. 720P is still considered high definition , is extremely clear , and consumes significantly less memory. As far as RAM required , any computer which was built within the last few years should not have a problem. I am using a Gateway with a 1,000 Gigabyte hard-drive and have no problems. The lag issues are caused by a few reasons...and not necessarily the software itself. One thing Sony has done with Vegas Pro 10 is add CUDA encoding support (not sure about playback). When editing HD video, the files are very large, and should be on a RAID 0 or spanned across at least 2 higher speed hard drives. Remember, hard drives can only read so fast, and sometimes a video's file size is greater than the physical read speed of your hard drive. Also make sure you have good GPU and 4-Core CPU

@mrxclusive you just need a pair of 3d glases and a program that open 3d. you don't need some fancy monitor for 3d you can watch on your grandparent monitor.

@djfirestormx This is a great video to explain the new features. My only question after testing this is out is what does the side by side full output do? I rendered it and it actually rendered a video with two frames side by side and not a 3 D video. Anyone know the proper render settings to just render a 3D output, viewable with glasses? Ya, the preview is working a lot better, I tried it on my old ASUS G2S-A1 running windows 7 64-bit and 4GB ram, and it did not lag on a page peel...which has always been an issue with 1080p video and Vegas before. I can not speak for a large project, as I always use my 6-core for those...and that runs smooth on any software really.

@PureForloko I just got Sony VEgas Pro 10 and may be of some assisstance to you. Sony Vegas Is intended to render videos in HD. unfortunately , HD video consumes an EXORBIANT amount of memory . However , you may solve the problem by setting Vegas to render the video in a standard format. Austin - Moccia Studios

I'd be happy if they made the preview screen less laggy. When I have a 720p clip in my timeline and I have the preview quality set to draft:quarter, it only changes frame every 2 seconds. I also want to be able to render in .wmv again and not get that stupid 'not enough memory' message.

I love Sony Vegas Pro, but it's plug-in support, compared to Adobe Premiere, is serverly lacking...When will we get something like the Twixtor plug-in for example for Sony Vegas?!

@ZeroC0ol1989 yes it's 3D, but in order to see it you must wear the red and blue thing that you use when you watch a 3-D movie =) It's an awesome effect from my point of view, I'll shoot a video and try this, but I don't have the glasses lol, well I'll get it eventually =)

@zabjelozofr My understanding is the 3D feature is the major difference. I'm sure there's others, but you can go to the internet for a side by side comparison. Perhaps Sony's website. But the 3D seems to be the big difference.

...or even 6-Core CPU if you can afford it as Sony Vegas 9 even supports up-to 12 threads. I believe it maxes out at 12 Cores though (dual xeon 6-core mobo). And lastly, high definition editing is hard core memory dependent. Minimum 4GB. Best to have 8GB or even 12 if your mobo supports it. (I understand 4GB sticks are available too now.)
