It worked out well for me. I did figure out how to build a waterproof top for it. I put my wood much higher to the top so I could get more feed into it. I then put another 2x6 frame on top and put cross boards across and then screwed down metal roofing. I then put a screw into the 2x6 as well as into the top 2x4 on the tote on both sides and then used a piece of wire to loop around the screws to keep the top on it. Then when I go to take it to be filled I take the top off so it doesn't blow on the trailer. It's kept my feed completely dry. I also have a trailer that I keep the tote on so I never have to unload it. I just take it to the feed store and they fill it

that would be a good idea for a greenhouse too. you could close the lids on your plants when it gets cooler and protect them. thanks for the idea. great work!!!

love that it gave me an idea for my cattle feeder project.(funnel the feed to the bottom outlet, and use a timer and motor from the deer feeder to drive a pellet grill auger to pull feed into a trough

Maybe add a "Gasket" or seal around the entire edge for water seal. Looks good.

Good point - what material would you recommend as a gasket that I could find at Lowe’s or true value?

Make sure to run a bead of sealer around the top

I'm thinking you could silicone around the top of the boards on the top. Then put a bevel angled away on the top of the boards on the bottom part.. Or better yet. Take the boards off the bottom part and rip them down to 2 1/2" and reinstall them so the plastic is an inch above the boards. Then either lower the boards on the top part or use 1x6 boards. You would still need to seal the top though. Just a thought.
