This is simply the first of many iterations I will go through developing the Crosshair Xtreme on 2.4GHz. Toward the end you can see what will hopefully be the antenna's final form.

I agree I love technical and theory type videos. We need more of them.

Years ago - the 1980s were the early days of CATV before 2 way addressable systems. I worked for a CATV filter company. I spent ages on an IFR spectrum analyzer designing CATV Traps. (4 pole notch filters) - several iterations for each of several hundred channels. It was before the days of any real computer assistance, so we were doing a LOT of this sort of cut and try. We also did 'specials' for head ends, environmental testing, etc. so there was always development work to do. It's more art (feel?) than math and takes forever to find a truly outstanding combination. I run your 5.8 Crosshair and Mad Mushroom on my goggles and Triumphs on my quads, and each one got there on it's merits. I have a couple contenders for the quads to be tested, but the current combo has held off all comers for a year or so now. I think it's no coincidence I ended up with an all IBcrazy lineup. Nice work, and thanks for the look at your process.

About to pull the trigger on the PepperBox Extreme 5.8. The crosshair extreme is already insane. I want to go IBCrazy!!! Haha These videos are absolutely amazing! VAS is the absolute best there is!

Wow... I'm actually understanding some of what you're saying. You're very good at communicating these concepts. Thank you for taking the time to share not just your methods and concepts, but your (very valuable) time.

These are my favorite videos to watch. This is the real work behind the scenes. I also love that you are a regular guy working in his basement, not in a corporate funded lab somewhere. But please stop making them. I believe that you give out to many design secrets that can be copied and tried before you even get them to market. Also, thank you for your valuable time and your devotion to building these incredible antennas!

I loved this video Alex. Would be a dream if mine to someday design antennas with you! It’s so interesting how all the theory in the world and computer simulations will get you close (which I love doing), but it’s good ol’ fashioned trial and error to perfect it that’s needed. Man I want a VNA... 😢

Thank you ibcrazy I was debating on the papper box extreme or the Truerc one they have but I'm sold on VAS just on watching what you do Now I known it's really tuned And really well made I wish VAS was in california so I could try to get a Job there would be amazing I watched 4 videos and already feel like I've learned a lot

Your R&D video really made me think and I was wondering if you ever thought about crowdfunding for a project you want to make but is to expensive.
@CAGreve1231

The real expense here is time. That's not something you can crowd fund. The parts cost money too, but I can live on next to nothing if I have to. I am ok driving a 12 year old car and living in a 2 bedroom house so I can do more development. Crowd funding pushes the price up too much.

What do you think the range gain of 2.4 video will be over the 5.8 at the same mw output also is there a crosshairs patch for the furious fpv goggle module in 2.4 and will it work well with tbs crossfire I really love these videos I’ll only by your antennas as long as you keep making them I’m buyin
@vanguard6937
@vanguard6937 6 жыл бұрын
the crosshair is a type of antenna, and a patch is a different type of antenna. the crosshair antennas will work substantially better than any patch. the will work very well, with 2.4 and a crossfire (just make sure there are not any taranis on 2.4 nearby).

This a bit of topic but I saw an old video of yours recently and Star One's Set your controls was playing. Are you a fan of Arjen Lucassen I love Ayreon and Star one.

I liked Star one's first album, but their second left much to be desired. I don't know of any other projects by Lucassen, though.

Alex, that was a good video and I understood a lot of it. However, I really wish you would do a good basic level video of what all this stuff is, like axial ratio, impedance, SWR , etc. , why it’s important, and how it all fits together. Maybe get a Immersion Power Meter V2 and show us how we can test our gear on a device we can afford. Bottom line is, your videos are great, your gear is great and I have a lot of it, but I need some help with how to keep it going strong and how to test that it is working properly.
@CAGreve1231
@CAGreve1231 6 жыл бұрын
I already made several videos of what SWR and axial ratio are. Here is one from 2 months ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnSppp9vpt2poKc You cannot test axial ratio with an Immersion Power meter, though. That tool is incredibly limited in what it can do.
