Summary
HAU is part of the CROPDIVA (Climate Resilient Orphan croPs for DIVerse Agriculture) www.cropdiva.eu/ One of the six CROPDIVA crops is hull-less or naked barley for human food. To increase in-field diversity CROPDIVA is investigating mixed intercropping cereals and legumes, and hull-less barley and pea intercrops are giving some very useful and interesting results. In parallel to the mixed intercropping, HAU is researching strip cropping polyculture using small autonomous vehicles in two projects; one internally funded using the Hands Free Hectare/Farm, and one funded by Innovate UK in partnership with AR Revolutions.
