To those of you saying this match is boring? These older guys will throw you on your skull and/or submit you in seconds. They'll effortlessly pretzelize you. There's so much world class strategy, tactics, skill,technique, sensitivity and experience in this match between world class legendary guys who are so evenly matched that on any given hour of any given day one guy can beat the other just for the other guy to win the rematch an hour later. They'll trade wins losses and ties with the most microscopic changes at the right or wrong moment dictating the outcome. The danger of such elite skills and experience is that most of the onlookers don't have and will never get anywhere near the understanding, experience, skill and refinement to appreciate what we just watched.

Your kidding right this match is why gi jiujitzu is dying and no gi is taken over
@caveirao1013 жыл бұрын
World class legendary? Roger Gracie is world class legendary. I’m sorry but why compete if you are afraid of losing instead of not afraid to win. This is not jiujitsu, megaton is older and he goes out and risks it all to win. Wagner Rocha is older and goes out for the win, why else compete after all these years?

That decision makes no sense to me. One close-ish throw attempt, and good takedown defense. The half guard pull doesn't count for much to me, not near enough time was left to initiate a true half guard game. His opponent was shooting at least, multiple attempts, which should mean more in a match of this type.

can someone explain to me wth just happened? not familiar w/ scoring in this type of sport. So did he win bc of the takedown?

That wasn't a take down, that is called pulling guard, and scores no points. He won by referee (split) decision.

Haha I love reading the comments, they’re like the comic section from back in the newspaper days. I agree this match was boring, but it was also packed with nuances only a martial artist can appreciate- especially competitors. Keep in mind both these guys probably had 3-5 matches to get in the finals so not only are they exhausted- they probably dealt out some nice takedowns and subs already. That being said, I still ff to the end 😆 Gi is historic and the stuff of legends- not only that but it’s the only way to officially earn belts. And if your going to do no-gi faithfully- you might as well go fight Mma 🤸🏾♀️
