Hey Mr. Clay, I just wanted to say thank you for all these videos. I’ve been traditional bow hunting for 4 years now (I’m 16 btw) and I taught myself how to shoot using your videos. I’m hoping to shoot my first buck here in Kanas this year. But if it weren’t for you and your videos I never would’ve began hunting. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you and good luck on your deer hunt in Idaho.

Your sons have a great privilege to be taught these ways by their father. Coming from a single mother whose father walked out on my mom and then the same happened with my own daughter, this instruction is truly priceless. I’m so thankful to have found your channel. My daughter and I love learning alongside your boys. Thank you for taking us along and walking us through the process. Really enjoyed Fin’s vlog at the end, too. Y’all are doing a great job with these boys.

Clay, as someone whos never had many opportunities or guidance for hunting growing up you've been an invaluable resource and source of drive for me to pursue more of this lifestyle. I'm getting a late start at 28 after only hunting squirrels and doing a lot of hiking in my time so I can only hope to achieve a fraction of what you have. Thank you for all your videos and insight, you're an astounding woodsman, father and role model for any and all who see your work.

Clay, You and the boys should put in for the draw hunt on Ossabaw Island in south Ga. No human habitation on the entire sea island. You have to get ferried there with everything you might need for the duration of your stay. The hogs there are the closest thing to a poor man’s jamon iberico.

Clay made a good point about telling his son to also pay attention to the surroundings when tracking a blood trail. Look for tracks and possible routes. But not just that. Also look around for the animal itself, you don't want to stumble upon the wounded animal by following it's blood trail. Not only that but it teaches you to not rely on only the blood trail which can be unreliable at times. When me and my old man track deer or bear we shoot, I always have my nose in the leaves and he has his looking around. I have a VERY keen eye for blood, I can see the tiniest spec the size of a needle tip in wet leaves. My old man on the other hand is red colour blind.... ironic right. So I was walking along blood trails ever since I was 5. But he has a very keen eyesight so he usually finds the animal when walking 50 yards ahead of me by looking at the direction I'm headed.

Parenting today is all around technology sadly , my dad taught us boys to do things for our selves , he said one day I won’t be here and your gunna have to know how to look after yourself , he ment when he dies I understood what he ment I was young and learnt killing chickens plucking them getting them , went on duck hunts , pig hunts , deer hunts , fishing , I hated it at first but really glad he taught us , we certainly know how to look after our selves with bows ,gun, and trapping rabbits etc . Skills you won’t find in the city’s , clays son will be fine , never to late to learn from one another if your willing to put in the work and know your going to get your hands bloodied and dirty, that’s how it goes . Survival.
