He will be, I want him to dominate Asal, so that some sense gets into that Marwan-esque brain of his, if they both play fair, it would be a cracker like never before.

he first needs to fix his game mentally. This match is a perfect example

Coll is always recognized for his fitness and retrieving capabilities, which are superhuman, but he has improved the rest of his game so much. He may not put the ball in the nick as much as others, but that reduces his error count. He hits accurately consistently. He is also mentally tough and experienced. It's no surprise he is world # 1.

OMG I honestly, dint see Paul wining this time, since he's never played this improved Ibrahim, but man was i wrong, goes on to show what it takes to be WORLD NUMBER 1! Its not just winning against players who you're comfortable with but to deal with players who can exploit your style of play and still come out on top. TAKE A BOW! Paul and Ibrahim are both one of my favorite players on the tour! Glad to see Ibrahim reach the finals and play the way he did and Paul you are truly amazing, the discipline, commitment, mental strength and consistency, you've mastered it all mate, so good to see a non-Egyptian play at this level, Congrats Superman! P.s, Props to both players for showing amazing sportsmanship and delivering such clean and classy game! Some players on the tour could learn a thing or two.

I love squash. I'm in NZL and support Paul and Joelle. I am always impressed by the skills of all the players. BUT .... will the referees PLEASE call foot faults. It's in the rules. See Ibrahim at around 6:11. When he hits the ball, he's already virtually on the T.

It was interesting to see that Coll's game isn't as suited for a new ball as one might think. With a very bouncy ball his options are limited and he risks giving up cheap points and strokes over-stretching for volleys and hitting high re-drops. He requested a new ball against Momen in the prior round and it made things difficult for him in game 4. Of course with a dead ball, as it got at the end of game 5, opponents like Ibrahim can start hitting fast winners against him.
@uglymandarronson9838

Aren't you contradicting yourself? Coll won the 4th with a new ball? and then the 5th, when the "dead ball" was suited to Ibrahim hitting winners?

It was fitness that mattered at the end. Paul no wonder wears the Superman T-Shirt. He would have be down and out if he was not fit plus he waited for the other to make enforced error and Yousuf was not up to the challenge mentally & Physically. Also I like Paul, he is a humble and down to earth person like most Kiwis. Met him at Netsuite Open in SF.

The classic squash style beating the modern squash style. Seeing Coll win this, shows me if Wilstrop and Matthew and Gaultier were still playing in this era they would be there right at the top. This is amazing with this final one was either going to keep getting stronger after this or break.... these type of matches are not easy on the body..... it is hard for someone like Ibrahim to be consistent at this level.... you have to train like David Goggins everyday to keep up with Paul Coll now..... otherwise you will collapse with exhaustion.... when he started bleeding it was a sign he had over pushed his body

Youssef was super impressive in play and in the way he managed the game and tournament.....how he had to deal with a petulant child in his semi. I imagine the pressure on Coll this week would have been enormous given his new No 1 ranking. You don't want to lose your first tournament at no1 right, especially to someone outside top 10. Coll will be way better for getting this one out the way i reckon.

@rossemans8996

That's one way of looking at it - but another would be to say that Coll was put under tremendous pressure by an unseeded player ranked 17th in the world who managed to reach his first platinum event final and played amazingly well right to the end of a very long match. Credit to Coll for getting the win, but Ibrahim has only just turned 23 and if he keeps playing like that I don't see why he can't not only reach but win more finals in the future. Excellent match played in the right spirit - both of them are great for the sport.
