"KIRK HAMMETT: We were drinking at the Carlson house one night, and Lars turned on the tape deck: "Listen to this, man. Fostex Multitrack Mesa/Boogies with James playing the heaviest riff ever!" It was the main riff to 'Master of Puppets', which had been quadrupled on all four tracks and sounded super heavy. And I knew it immediately as this joke riff that James would always play on the D string. He just dropped it down to the low E string and it was suddenly this whole other thing."

I straight away thought of Megadeth when I saw the title. Dave Mustaine loves a bit of chromatic playing.

Great to see people using musicman guitars! I was scared to buy one because I knew I wouldn't pick up my ibanez jem or prestige anymore. But I'd still use my especially and Jackson as they're set up in D and Eb. Anyway about 5 years ago was the end of my downfall with alcohol and other things, I'm embarrassed to say. And it led to me selling half my guitars. I sold 3 ibanez guitars 2 rg and the jem, and a fender. But I have 1 ibanez semi acoustic left. And still have my esp and esp 8 string and Jackson (japanese made in 96). I have been 100% abstinent for 5 years and I think now is the time to replace what I've lost, with a musicman set in E standard. Think I might treat myself to a JP6!

how about some Death Angel? Flotsam & Jetsam, Prong, Voivod? that was killer by the way. it actually turned me on to some bands I haven't listened to but heard of before. The Testament you got me hooked. ive loved that band since the first day I heard them back in 1986 or 87. Got to open for them once with the band I was in at the time "Envirusment" Prong was also on that bill.

@@necessarycynicism6304 I don't know Theory at all but the fact that you said "1 2 3", I can now finally understand haha.... I think I've made a riff using this formula too

@@RoRo-vr6wxthink of it like going up or down one fret at a time or “half step” which means the same thing 👍
@@RoRo-vr6wxdepending on how long you've been playing guitar, you should really learn some basics of theory at least. it's not as hard or boring as people make it out and there are plenty of fun things to do with it as a guitarist.

Hi, I noticed with great pleasure that in this wonderful lesson of yours, there are two riffs from Testament. I would like to ask you: why don't you create videos where you explain how to play the riffs and solos from the first two amazing albums of Testament? I don't know if you've noticed, but it's practically impossible to find accurate tabs and tutorials for their songs on the internet. Considering how many fans Testament has worldwide, I believe you would get a lot of views if you transcribed their solos and riffs
