a Dr messed up my ears almost 3 years ago. Im an audiophile so half of my addiction is the music and the other half is the equipment. Having this happen to me made me realize how important ears are. It's a given for 99 percent of the world. It's got me in a state of despair. I cant live like this, but at the end of the day this is the way hit is. Message is, appreciate your ears, they are amazing. If you look at the anatomy and how it works you might just start believing in God if you don't already. It's amazingly complex and beautiful. Take care of your ears ppl, don't let a Dr. near them unless you're dying. Awesome video, love your interest in making your own records, so cool!

Awesome. We can always use more cutting videos on the internet, especially with Presto equipment!

Just brilliant, thanks Mack! I have a British record cutting machine over here from the 30s or 40s, needs a ton of work to revive it, but I'm looking forward to getting it up and running and then the long journey to get the feel of it and finally cut nice 78s. Your videos are so helpful, and supply a lot of inspiration and encouragement too!

Very cool! Your cleaning items are interesting. I use the lighter fluid for removing stickers and gummed areas. Never thought about using it to clean too. There was an old boy that had a junk/furniture store here in town. His magic was WD-40. He said he used it on Everything. I guess cleaning wood and plastic vinyl things and metal and such.
@davehunt94413 жыл бұрын
I have used WD40 as a secondary process of cleaning 78s after using soap and water in a effort to eliminate as mush surface noise as one can and it works a treat.

I’d love a record cutter like that…i’m stuck with a Packard-Bell 1052 that cuts records inside out, since I can’t afford the $1000+ these things command. It’s annoying, HOWEVER with a sapphire cutting stylus and a custom-built tube amp, so long as I boost the high end with an equalizer, it produces surprisingly good results!

Great video! Would really love to own a nice presto like that!

I can’t wait to cut records with my Meissner hopefully sometime next year. Not as sophisticated as your Presto but it will get the job done.

Sir Mack,always a treat and this one even more so. You,re so right 78,s and 45,s are not MEANT to be played on hifi(highend) equipment. What about a jukebox , is not that something for you? Though your little player is certainly unique and who cares about a little extra noise? Have a nice day Sir and greetings to your son Jesse. See you around on another mission to score the holy grail
@robfriedrich2822 Жыл бұрын
When they pressed 45's in polystyrene, it would be destroyed, when the record player is too audiophile.

I need a record cutting machine, I'd like to cut 78s that would play on my wind up phonograph, I bet best rockin place would sound cool on that thing!

Have you ever heard of Billy Waters Forest City NC songs anyway he has over 300 songs he wrote and song and put up on KZbin? I was just wondering if you could make a record of some of his songs for him and if so how much would you charge to do it

Brilliant Mack, I want a cutting machine now. 🤣 can it be slowed to cut 45 rpm the same way? Probably not but would be cool. Now, when you stick on your labels each side do you 'fill' the "offset drive hole" to save it being punched through by accident when being handled etc. ?
@robfriedrich2822 Жыл бұрын
Vintage cutters had only 78 rpm and maybe 33 rpm, but can't record microgrooves.

Get some better quality phono leads between the speaker and the lathe ,it really does matter ,I run a reggae sound system ( old school hand built) and by putting a weak link in the chain spoils the whole path of audio ,just a heads up ,I know you know your stuff but honestly the leads make a difference 💪🍀🇬🇧👍🏼all the best mate .

The people who says "you cant play records on that " are the same people who play 30$ RSD Records on 300$+ modern turntables. Im.not saying thats wrong but many of Rockabilly people (like you and me) plays 1000$ Records 😅
