I've had one of these units for my KX3 for a couple of years and it is by far the cleanest power supply I have and I haven't been able to raise it above room temperature despite hammering it with every mode possible! M0YZT

Do you have a link for the 33-140 adaptor lead?

H’mmm, The Icom manual states an external psu should be 13.8V (Capacity: At least 5 Amps) This shows only 4 Amps max!

4 Amos is more than enough as the radios draws well below this.

So how to get the 10W QRP without noise? I have one from Amazon 15.2V 4A which produces a lot of noise on 20m.

The power supply & a two metre fixed cable with plug may not fit in your pocket.

does anyone happen to have a link to get this power supply? it's not in the description amazon nor ham radio outlet and will it work if i have it connected on a UPS battery backup and the 705 is still running and still transmitting? my idea is to pack my UPS the power supply antenna and the 705 when i go out for pota's where my UPS has 600 minutes (10 hours) of battery run time

Nice video, thank you. Just ordered one. I take it I can use the IC-705 and transmit while the adaptor is plugged in? For some reason I keep hearing that you mustn't transmit while plugged into mains... In advance, thank you very much for your time. Best regards, 73 de Manny-M7EPB

Hi can anyone advise if there are alternatives to photo id with regards to online invidulation as my provisional driving license is currently with the DVLA and I have booked my exam, i do have other forms of id including the temporary paper license issued by the post office my cbt bank cards etc ect and before it gets to late can post copies of these containing my signature which can be checked at time of testing, sadly I don't have a passport, I really hope for my new provisional driving license shows up before the exam but certainly am happy to have all my credentials checked if it doesn't, would a phone call to the rsgb be in order?.

Unfortunately it makes a lot of noise on 50hz networks… unusable (two units tested). Ok on 60hz.
@howardhoyt66473 жыл бұрын
The conducted and radiated noise from the Kx33 is extremely low on either 50 or 60 Hz. The issue is likely common-mode currents in the antenna system.
@laurent59263 жыл бұрын
@@howardhoyt6647 Sorry, but unfortunately… all has been tested to eliminate common mode current. If the antenna is just near the Kx33, the rig is unusable whatever where the rig is (inside, outside…) with big ferrite, etc… I did not tested 60hz (only 50hz) but a friend who travels report this problem on 50hz, not 60. An other issue is the voltage a bit too high for the Kx3 (audio with clics), however a diode cures this issue easily and this may be an issue with my kx3 only however. I use it for charging only and it is useful this way.

I take it 14.4v DC is within this radio's tolerances. Manual doesn't state what they are. Also I should get a qualified electrician to check that insecure mains outlet. Dear oh dear.

The radio can do 13.8v +/- 15%.

@@peterlinnet8111 Many thanks. I couldn't find any confirmation of this.
@peterlinnet81113 жыл бұрын
@@HKey_Root It's listed in the specs, also a long press on the signal meter will bring up the other meters, the voltage one on the bottom right corner goes up to 16v. I believe the max using the ÷/- 15% is 15.7 or 15.8v off the top of my head so for warranty purposes never go outside that.
