This really helped me, I took note of the previous settings and then changed the two you show here. You have to press SET before4 moving to the AM settings and then Set again for them, Many thanks, it was my FM signal which was showing low 60watts it is still not quite hitting a 100 but its about 90 watts which can drive my big amp better (wants to see at least 100 watts)

One more thing if you do this video again. Recommend taking a snapshot of all the readings before you turn the knob. Just In case there is a problem you can go back to the original settings. These adjustments are made individually to each rig and there is no default or reset to go back to. I did this mod to my rig and works great. If you use an amp you may want to make sure there is not much overshoot with this mod.

THank You Ed, Doing this coupled with being a bit more conservative using ALC brigs out a more clear studio quality sounding audio with full output power. My max power before the adjustment was 85 watts. which as per icom is commercially acceptable. I am more satisfied with the radio sound and performance now. Using a Heil HM-12 2with an 8 band EQ.

I have same issue with my 7610 using a proper PEP Meter. My 7610 shows 30W on SSB, `100 on FM, My 991A shows 100W on SSB and FM. Others that receive me are reading my 7610 a full 2 S-Units less than my 991A. Most will flame with the response "Get a proper meter" when they didn't take time to read the facts (Rxd with 2 less S-Units). Icom states the ALC is overly aggressive. I could elaborate, but you already know the truth. 73 and best to you.
@djflexlive2 жыл бұрын
@@AirGunScientist I tried a couple of things. I bought a 'close to' real PEP power meter (daiwa CN-901). I will say according to the precision, mine IC7300 is delivering 90~95w without the mod. So I will recommend to revert the mod to the original settings you had if you take care to write the factory values as it depends each rigs. ALC is over agressive yes, but it reachs no problem the 100w. For the 2 S-Units on reception, using same antenna and locally (40~80m) , it's almost hard to believe. 2 S-Units, 12 db means: If they receive you with 10w @s5 , you need 20w to get 5.5 S-U, 40w to get 6 S-U, 80 to get 6.5 S-U and 160w to reach s7 (2 unit difference between S5 @10w and S9 @160w). It's an example for sure but 2 S Units it's huge. Even with this mod you won't get 2 more S Units if you follow the 'power rules'

My dummy load started smoking. There was no oil in it ! Duh ! I will try again but first i will turn down RF % to zero. I think your instructions are well intentioned, but either not explained correctly or they are incorrect. Your RF power meter started at 100% and ended up at 100 % There was no peak up in power. My settings initially in HF power 100% were around ( 4. 200 V). Could it be the (4. 901 V) was the final setting you set your rig to ? I downloaded the service manual. I will take a look at it.

Don’t do this mod. It will cause your transmit to have distortion. It will also interfere with the way the alc does business. The ic-7300 does transmit 100 watts pep. If you want more power, use compression. That’s the trick. The mod will cause you to have a dirty signal. The ic-7300 does have 100 watts pep. Don't forget the Crest Factor. If you read 40 watts on an average watt meter the crest factor is times 2.5. That would be 100 watts PEP. Leave the radio alone.
