IC 746 Antenna Tuner Problems

Tim you had an interesting comment as you re-assembled this unit - about meshing the capacitors fully closed and aligning the motor stops on the CCW mechanical limit. Did that turn out to be the proper procedure?

It worked fine. The capacitor stop must tell the motor when it reaches the end of travel and that would make it stop. Fortunately not enough torque to try to break anything by turning it further. Thanks.

I also noticed the couplers in mine are dried out and split.

I don’t know if Icom would still have those, maybe check hamfests or try and fabricate a substitute. With 3D printing somebody may be able to make them I would think.

hello my friend i am using icom ic 746 i have a problem like this i would be glad if you help me. When the tuner is on in 27mhz fm, the tuner comes on after 10 minutes, then it stops sending, the usb lsb does the same thing when it gets hot, what could be the problem? ta6smt 73

Hi i also have icom 746 and i do believe same problem with your antenna tuner. do you accept fixing my tuner?

if I switch on my tuner the swr goes high..looks the motor may be moving but incomplete...this happens on all band..any help. 73 vu3sxe.

Look at Mr Carlson’s Lab KZbin channel. He goes over diagnosis of that very well.

Mine wont even tune a 1.1 match

I think that is a common problem with that tuner. You could try and turn it off and use an external tuner.

Mr. Malik, I have a device with you, Icom 746 Pro. Youssef, I have a 746 Pro device. It has 100% reception and transmission, but it does not give a power reading in wattage. It is very low. Are there any patients? How can it be repaired? What is the faulty part? A picture so that I can complete it. Thank you very much.
