Just performed this mod on my 7610, and it works for me too. I used a tiny pair of wire snips to crush the diodes, instead of the soldering iron. My reasoning was, I have no intention of ever replacing the diodes, and undoing the mod, and even if I wanted to, I don't think I'd be able to re-solder them, because of how small they are. So the risk of introducing the heat of a soldering iron to the board didn't really have any advantages for me. The diodes were a lot for fragile than I thought they would be, and instantly fell apart with just a little bit of pressure from the snips. I ran a battery powered vacuum cleaner lightly over the board after this, to make sure there weren't any little pieces still floating around in there, that could short something out.

I did the mod on my rig but the diodes were so small that I couldn't use a soldering iron, so I took a very small pair of diagonal cutters and just crushed the diodes. Not the most professional thing I have ever done, but it worked.

I've used that method in the past. It is fast and if you don't; want to save the diodes why not. And you don't need a ground strap if you ground yourself to the chassis before working on it. as you can see with a cheap soldering iron and not the best vision I was able to do it quickly.

you should not work on surface mount if you don't have the proper soldering equipment, to iron is way too big

Do the 6 meters band works after this mod? I just did the exact same mod and it opened the TX as it should but now the radio doesn’t go to 6 meters at all. Did a reset and nothing. There is the potential that is a Japan radio but it drives me crazy how it opened everything else.

I did the mod but it only opened it up from 1.6 to 30 Mhz. I was hoping it would open up down to 630 meters.

is this mod also open up to 27mhz (11meter band - cb) with the european 7610 version???
@EP3NHZ2 жыл бұрын
In this type of version, to open the send and receive, you have to act like other models, that is, by removing the diodes, it is possible to have the whole send and receive?

It would be faster to nip them with a small pair of diagonal cutters, which is what I have done many times. This time I wanted to save the diodes in case I needed them somewhere else.
