This is so helpful! I love how you showed your attempts/fails. It makes me feel better about all of my trials with cricut. It's nice to know I am not the only one who has to run back to the store. I failed miserably when I tried to cut felt. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for this detailed tutorial. You were very good in leaving everything in. This is how we all learn.... from our mistakes. You have done us all a favor in showing your steps and what to be aware of. This was so helpful for all of us who want to try this. Thank you for being so willing to share your process with all of us. I remembered something too that I was told never use your cutters for fabric on paper. as paper will surely ruin them. So a dedicated pair is what you need to use. thanks.

The bonded fabric blade is the exact same blade as the regular blade. It’s just a different color to remind you to only use it for fabric. So you’re u could’ve cut it with your regular blade if you just had a new, sharp blade.

thank you so much, I wanted to reach through the screen and hug you. I just spent the last hour doing everything you did without the "heat and bond" and the fabric blade. Doing a big project for a friends, daughters babyshower and I was SO FRUSTRATED I could chew glass. To see you were having the same difficulties and what you did to over come calmed me down. I am now on the Cricut site ordering the fabric blade. Thank you

I was able to cut hearts from lite bond ( didn’t have to use ultrahold))cotton fabric by using the super sticky purple mat, the fabric knife, but I kept the paper on and cut it fabric side down. I was really surprised to find it worked! I really prefer the lite to ultra. I was told it wouldn’t work. I don’t know if the fabric blade was the difference, but I was so excited about the outcome. Interesting that you took the paper off. I tried that with no success...so my guess I maybe it also depends on fabric??

Thanks for this. Are you able to do a tutorial using cotton fabric, I’ve tried all sorts of settings. I use the fabric blade and Matt and it gets caught up inside the machine every time! Loosing the will. I actually really think cricut shouldn’t advertise the explore air for cutting fabric as I have found this to not be the case! I would have got a maker had I’d known this!

How do you get the machine to acknowledge you have changed the blade to the bonding blade ? My machine still thinks I’m using the blade it came with . I wanted to cut out some bonded velvet material . It wouldn’t give me an option . I bought the new blade , switched it over and the design site won’t show it on the process ??

OMG! Don’t put your fingers in it while it’s running! That is a sharp blade. It’s like trying to unjam your blender with your fingers while it’s running. Pause it and fix it.

hey does anyone know if can i iron this stuff onto a shirt or hoodie? im trying to create a shirt with words but i wanted to use felt instead of vinyl...
@ICanMakeThat5 жыл бұрын
Since I backed everything with the heat bond to cut it I think you would need to add a new layer of heat bond to it and iron it on the shirt. But I would imagine that would work
@pickledpoppycreativestudio6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the "bonded fabric blade" and the "fine point blade" are the same, the fabric blade was just given a different color than the fine point for at-a-glance discernibility. From Cricut.com: "We all understand that you don't use fabric scissors to cut other materials, right? Reserving fabric cutters for fabric cutting prolongs their fabric-cutting life! This blade gives you all of the functionality of the Premium Fine-Point blade, but in a distinctive pink color to match the FabricGrip mat so you can now know at a glance which fine point blade is dedicated for bonded fabrics, and which should be used for your other materials." 😑

@naddawilliamsann59446 жыл бұрын
And you can use the same housing with Fine Point blade, Deep point blade and Bonded-Fabric blade. The color is just different for the convenience to tell them apart. No need to pay more money :)
@elbanti6 жыл бұрын
Nadda Ann Williams Actually I read on Cricut that the Deep Cut blade can only be used with the Deep Cut housing. No other blades can be used with that housing and the deep cut blade cant be used with housings. But you are right about the Fine and Bonded fabric ones they are interchangeable. From my understanding.

Hi, great tutorial, thank you! I was wondering if, when you were finished cutting out the hearts, you could iron these on to a surface? I know you took your hearts and stitched down the middle of them onto plush fabric - could you iron on to flat fabric like an iron on patch? any help is much appreciated.
@ICanMakeThat5 жыл бұрын
Stephanie abbels Yes you could. It already has the bonding sheet on it so it should iron right on. I only stitched it to get the effect of the hearts raised on the edges. Like fluttering.

Will transfer paper work to hold the fabric in place
@ICanMakeThat5 жыл бұрын
Michelle you would still need a mat to put the transfer paper on. And transfer paper is only sticky on one side. So I guess I don’t see how that would be beneficial rather than just using a mat. Or do you mean to use that rather than the fuseable fabric? I think the material would still move since it’s not as strong as the iron on webbing. But you could always try it. Felt is cheap!
@Michelle-xe2te5 жыл бұрын
Yes, rather then using the heat and bond. I’m just wondering if the heat and bond is only to hold the fabric in place on the mat. I’m just thinking that if transfer tape sticky side up placed on the material then on a purple mat will hold it. Plus you don’t get the messy residue from the fabric on your mat. It would be on the transfer tape.

Did u have to have tje special housing or just the that came with the cricut
@PumpkinPails6 жыл бұрын
Tammy Wyatt- Alford the only difference between the fabric housing and the default housing is the color. You can use whichever you'd like.
