Sometimes the screen is connected from the back, As I remember the Asus ROG Phone has its screen attached under the battery, and moving the battery on that phone causes damage to the battery, so each time the screen is replaced it needs new battery too

You wasted your money because that display which was broken you could also repair only broken glass and replace new one. And it's fluid amoled display as you removed the display from frame according to me it's not a good way to remove display ... Just keep patience take the time but remove safely.. #opinion

Perhaps to avoid breaking the main board or lenses. I've done this job myself and removing the screen is quite challenging, so removing the fragile components first is safer but not mandatory
