The KV-1 shown in the video is a S-Variant which features the sloped turret opposing to its predecessors. This sloped armor proved to be more effective at covering the weak spots. The IS- Tanks were successors of the KV series. Therefore their design is quit similar

The fire effects look nice, but the lack of building fires is annoying. The lack of rubble is also a bit disappointing. Explosions also seem subdued vs Men of War assault squad 2

In historical context, penal battalions being special and partisans being low level makes sense, A penal battalion was composed of soldiers who fled battle previously, or retreated in panic allowing a German breakthrough, which got their comrades killed or captured... these men were then detained by the rear blocking detachment (yes... that was their role, not gunning down retreating soldiers) and reformed into new units which had something to prove, the penal detachments were ferocious frontline fighters, plunged right into the thick of it, with the conviction to clear their name and regain their honour. meanwhile, partisans were simple folk, they were villagers, they were basically civilians that armed themselves with essentially anything they could find, sometimes it was dads old heirloom hunting rifle, sometimes it was a captured German machinegun, they were in enemy territory behind the frontline often completely without any military supplies, especially not explosives... often highly motivated by the desire for revenge, since many joined the partisans after the Germans executed one or several family members... but motivation doesn't give combat ability nor armament. So here I agree with how the Devs structured the hierarchy.

like assault squad 2 does this game grind to a halt despite not using much GPU, CPU, or memory. GPU is like 20% CPU 15%, 32 gig of RAM. It dies to 20 FPS when there's lots of action despite utilisation not increasing.

Doesn’t seem to, AS2 was 32 bit based which is why it had many performance issues. This is 64, so it should run much better, just like the base game Call to Arms.
