Definitely. Trusting Suryakumar Yadav was a bad move. Should have gotten a better player and more consistent player at number 6. The original lineup may not have had Shami, but India still won 4 matches in the league stage without Shami either way. Jadeja being out of form with the bat hurt India too. The lack of a proper number 6 costed india here, they had to send in Jadeja because they knew SKY would choke anyhow. If you remind yourself of the 2019 final, you’ll have noticed that Stokes (englands no.5) had Jos Buttler who was a reliable no.6 who could eat up pressure and infact put pressure back on the bowlers courtesy maintaining a high SR. If only KL Rahul had a reliable, trustworthy pressure handler like buttler to bat alongside, he’d have put up a good target. It is fact that Shubhman, Shreyas choked hard but at that point, the number 6 should’ve taken care of it. India’s lack of a proper no.6 is a major flaw for them, they choose to keep on giving SKY chances but he somehow always fails in must-win games.

@dudewavy yes, we need more players who can play for the team, we saw a one man show when Glenn Maxwell hit a double ton but even a Glenn Maxwell requires a Pat Cummins behind him. That’s why the combination of no.5 and no.6 is so crucial in ODIs because it’s not uncommon to lose 4 wickets in the first 30 overs. Maxwell had Cummins, Stokes had Buttler, KL didn’t have anyone. I still can’t believe India trusted SKY as their no.6. I probably will never get over it
