Nice concise video primer. I feel it could be improved in a couple minor ways. One would be to explain that there are three versions of cricket, but limit the explanation to the T20 format. This would give the opportunity introduce the concept of overs. You could also clarify that "all out" refers to ten, not eleven players being out, as one individual cannot bat alone. Finally you could explain that the "innings" is complete either when all players are out OR the allotted overs, twenty in this case, have been completed. Nice job ICC, continue spreading the gospel of cricket!

No. That is not possible. If it reaches the boundary quickly, the batters will stop running. If it travels slowly, they can run four themselves but it would probably be picked up by the fielder before it reached the boundary.

Right now, Cricket easily edge past football in terms of popularity in Indian subcontinent. I've never watched before, but I checked out some game highlights after this vid. There must be some extra rules to the "run out" that I'm missing. It seems like runners quit running whenever a fielder has the ball in hand. Either they're playing it REALLY safe or these fielders have laser precision. In my mind, the runners take the chance that the fielder misses the wickets, sending the ball flying into the opposite outfield. I mean, you can miss wickets from 10' away lol. Can someone give me some insight?

I think you're missing the fact that they can simply 'pass' the ball to whoever is standing closest to the wickets (just like basemen in baseball) and believe me, professional teams know there should be a player each on both sides of the wickets to collect the ball and remove the bails to get the batter out. Also just to be extra sure, professional team players train themselves such that it's basically habit for one more player to stand a few yards behind the 'collector' of the ball along the line of throw so that they can do the collecting in case the initial one missed the ball. The collector at the batter's end is always the wicket keeper, the guy with the gloves, and on the other end, its mostly the bowler. Although the collectors on both ends can be any of the 11 fielders basically.
