А мне больше нравится, когда звук нарастающий по мере набора скорости поездом. От этого есть практическая польза, например слепой даже человек сможет понять, что поезд разгоняется и у отходит от перрона!..

@@TheosTrainsWalesOfficialno guys, they‘re not the same product. They are pretty similar, Jew but still there are a few things wich are different; no wonder since the production of the velar and Velcro neo are ~10 years apart of each other

I'll try to explain it: the traction motors of the train are three-phase motors whose speed it mandated by the frequency of the ac-three-phase voltage. The voltage with the corresponding frequency is generated by frequency converters (403 and 406 use GTO-thyristor based / 407 and 408 IGBT based). These frequency converters and the windings in the traction motors produce a sensible humming noise because of physical vibrations produced by the alternating voltage. When accelerating, the frequency converters first feed the motors with a voltage that has "gaps" in the electrical waves (X% duty cycle) to limit the current flowing. As the train picks up speed the frequency also rises and on some point the frequency converters suddenly increase the duty cycle which sounds like the train is "shifting gears". When you take a close listen, you can hear that twice in this video. After the duty cycle is increased, much more current can flow and the acceleration can be higher. I hope I have explained it somewhat understandably, I'm not a native English speaker

@@HiAnonym The "shifting gears" effect is caused by synchronous pulse width modulation with a fixed pulse count per half wave. It sounds like shifting gears because it's removing pulses each switch in order to reach 1P or GFT/FFC (Grundfrequenztaktung/fundamental frequency clocking), the applied pulse pattern is CHM (Current Harmonic Minimum) 9, CHM 7, CHM 5, CHM 3, CHM Wide 3, GFT/FFC. CHM pulse modes may have several steps. The frequency drops each time because it's trying to reach the fundamental frequency.
