I feel this first village exemplifies this game so much. I don't know how far you've actually reached yet, so won't talk too much about it. It has this "cute" exterior, but the characters, their development and the story goes much deeper, to a more existential or darker place. And I feel you, I wish there was more games like this one. I feel like so much just peaked here, but there are, of course, similar experiences to be had. :)

The map theme is the game's main theme, titled Melodies of Life. It's one of the most beautiful songs composed by Nobuo Uematsu in my opinion and the full version with lyrics is comparable in beauty to Suteki Da Ne from FFX in my opinion I 100% agree with you that while modern graphics are more impressive, old-school graphics and art styles had a charm that's difficult to bring into photorealistic graphics. But even back then, Square was always trying to push technology over art. This was the last FF game on the PS1 and they pushed it to the limit.

Really enjoying your playthrough and love that you are finding the graphics enjoyable. There is a charm in older games that is lost on newer “realistic” ones. Please strongly consider the OG FF7 and post it to KZbin. You will love it. I know I will love watching that series.

@@SlashterpieceGaming That's a tragedy. Still though original 7 is pretty awesome and holds up to replay very well and it's one of those stories worth doing again after you know the big reveal. Having done it before should speed along the learning curve about battles, gear, materia, etc and you wouldn't be spoiling to use a guide if you wanted to find anything you missed your first go round or try to get a different date partner at the saucer. I may play that one again myself in the month leading up to release of the final installment of the remake. I'm sure whenever you get to it it'll still be entertaining.

When you want to figure out what something does, in the menu, just hit the help button indicated at the bottom right of the menu screen, then simply hover over what you want to know about and it will give you the information. Try the help button on any menu section to find out more about spells, equipment etc.

@ I figured you’d eventually catch on 🙂. This game is all about abilities, character stats aren’t as important, always find new equipment and swap them out as soon as a character has mastered the abilities off the current weapon/armor. Steal from every boss, they all have amazing loot. Few pro tips. Also the blue mage in this game can double as a very powerful healer if you figure out what enemies to consume, comes a little after lindblum. Enjoy your FF9 run!

Hahah! Steiner is so funny, I found it hilarious to voice him 😹 wanted him to sound dramatic as well haha! Vivi's evil uncle 😹😹😹 Garnet really chose a rather catchy and simple name- Dagger. I would've thought it was a gang leader haha. Vivi's ability should be cuteness overload, stuns all the enemies into taking care of Vivi 😹

Gonna try and get this one finished before episode 4 drops You should finish this game much quicker than 10, 13, or remake games. Btw there is a secret in this game if you get to the end within a certain time. It's unlikely a first time player will achieve it though as you need to reach the final dungeon in 12 hours to obtain it.

Yeah, you missed some Mognet letters. Don't worry about them. It's really hard to get them all without missing at least 1 or 2 when playing the game blind. But one thing. You can click on Mognet again after reading a letter. Often they still have a new one for you. Also as others mentioned, the back/select button will show you otherwise hidden info in the menu and battles. Especially usefull in the Ability menu to find out what everything does or to look up passive stats from Equipment. But maybe you already know about it. Not sure if you aren't a few hours ahead of your uploads already :D BTW, Dali is one of the few places out of all FF games (next to a few from 8) I would love to live in. Just a quiet and comfy place.

Btw since you are probably on disc 4 by now look out for a Steiner sword called Defender. It is unique in that whilst equipped you gain a permanent +3 increase to the spirit stat when you level up. It is helpful if you want to try and max his spirit stat (which is a good stat for him). It's the only weapon that Steiner has that has this added benefit It's kind of like how the CactuarGF in FF8 gave bonuses to level up. Obviously, the higher level you are, the less benefit you get, though, since less levels left before 99

Trying to rush and catch up, did you play this time a long time ago or are you still ongoing? This is actually a port of a mobile version, so the menus are too horizontal and most players dont notice the commands on the right. The original battle command list was more intuitive to find new skills and stuff to use!
