Hi Rachy I’m new to polymer clay and I’m finding that my clay (fimo) is sticking to my surface and acrylic roller and it makes a lot of mess I was wondering how to clean the roller and how to prevent this from happening again. I love your videos they are extremely helpful and makes everything easier so thank you xx

You can use some cornflour on the surface of your clay like shown in the video. It stops it from sticking to your tool, including your rolling pin 😄

Some clays are also very sticky from the get go and some get really sticky fast when they get warm. It didn't work for me really because I am not patient but putting the clay in the fridge helps. Or putting the clay inbetween paper and putting something on top (like not a whole book but maybe a piece of thick cardboard or something). It draws out some oil which can make the clay stickier. I often split up the work if I have several charms. I mix the colors for all on one day, the next day I work on all charms rotating around so the clay doesn't get super warm. I hope you are having a lot of fun with your clay creations. I am very happy that I started doing polymer clay stuff because it's a really nice and relaxing hobby (or more).

If you don't have or like superglue there is also the option to put some bake and bond on the eyepin before putting it in the charm and baking. At least for me it works really nice and it secures the eyepins 👍🏻.

It’s been a year, but I hope you see this. When baking, do you lay them flat or do you have a stand of some sort? I would think laying them flat would misshape them. 🤷🏼♀️ I,m new to all of this and was curious. 😂😂

Hi Rachel, I’m new to polymer clay I was just wondering if you could my question please: how do I make the cone textures since I don’t have a mold.
@avib9433 жыл бұрын
In the video, she said she used a plate to create the texture. I know I’ve seen the disposable plates like that in the past. I wish I knew a brand to tell you but I would say head to your local stores or search online for the textured/ embossed disposable plates. Good luck!
@creativerachy3 жыл бұрын
Like mentioned, I used a plastic plate in the video because I like the texture it gives, but you can create your own waffle texture mold by rolling a sheet of clay and creating some criss-cross indents in it. Then bake it so it is hard and you can press raw clay onto it :)

I took Rachy’s advice and created my own waffle texture by rolling out a sheet of clay, pressing plastic canvas in to it to create the pattern and baking it. The baked piece becomes the mold for future projects because it’s the reverse waffle texture. Plastic canvas is the perfect pattern, extremely cheap and found near the embroidery and cross stitch section where crafts are sold. Hope you found a method that works for you!
