Hi Maria , first, thank you for your very well done videos. As a youngster in Michigan, we ice fished with minnows and jigs - however - never stayed out in such cold like you guys. Now we live in Southern USA and fishing is from boat or from the banks. Enjoy your videos very much, please keep up the good work - peace & health to you and yours.

Thank you for good video. In Japan, we also fish on iced pond. The fish we catch on iced pond is named "Wakasagi", very small fish. We eat deep fried wakasagi on iced pond and they are very nice!

I life in the countryside of Indonesia. In my hometown, the river always warm and never got freeze (even the water doesn't feel cold at all). What a beauty side of the world you have there. So delightful to watch. I wish I can go there someday, even to just feel the snow dropping in my hair😂

Some comments have mentioned fish houses and skid houses, let me give a bit more detail. In some states in the US, especially in Minnesota, where it sometimes goes to -40, they do ice fishing. It's called the land of 10,000 lakes. They actually have little houses that they slide out onto the lakes, and fish through a hole in the floor. They have beds and stoves, and sometimes satellite TV. Americans love technology for fishing. Although sometimes people fish as simply as what you show.

In 2018 I've spend some time at Yakutsk (june). Love the city, but the surrounding nature even more. Pristine, untouched and unspoiled. Enjoyed it very much and saving money now to come back. Like the information and insight you are giving us about living in the coldest city in the world. Keep on going. Greetings from Holland, Europe.

My husband discovered your channel today. Your life is fascinating. We live near the east coast of North Carolina, USA. There is a lot of fishing here, in the Neuse River, the Core Sound, Bogue Sound, and the Atlantic Ocean. There is no ice on our waterways, so no ice-fishing. Some stand on the pier, the riverbank, the beach or boat dock to fish. Many fish from boats of all sizes. We also have commercial fishing boats (trawlers) that use nets to catch shrimp, blue crabs, and little menhaden fish that are used to make fishmeal for dog-food and other animals. They are not good eating fish. I am not a fisherman, but the fish I can think of that are caught here are Red Drum, Spanish Mackeral, lots of Flounder, Bass, White and Blue Marlin, mullet, Bluefish, Tarpon, Mahi-Mahi, Red Snapper, and more. Also people rake up Mussels and Scallops in the sounds. How do you speak English so well?

Thank you very much for introducing the culture of your country and part of your family. I imagine how difficult it is to fish in Yakutia and the fish soon freeze. Here in Brazil it seems easier to me, we have rivers everywhere, but we have to be careful with the fish due to the heat.

We used to ice fish in Canada a lot in winter, too. It was a big sport in Manitoba. And it was cold there as well. We walked to school every day, but the school was closed if it went below minus 50 degrees Celsius. Wonderful sound of crunching snow under one's boots!

One of the things i really like to do in the winter, often quite the same as you did but also with worms on the hooks 🪝🙂 other times we fish with passive hooks like in the video with the burbout. Im still impressed with how little clothes you put on when you went out fishing as it is such a passive thing to do. I often wear my downjacket on top of my normal winter clothes and sometimes to stay extra toasty i replace the second layer with a heated vest ( heated with from a powerbank ) and a rarely fish under -20 c 🎣😊

I can't wait to go ice fishing again. I usually start around April, all the way into June. Minus 44C isn't that bad, you just need to use home-made clothing, or wear layers. The only thing I would worry about in minus 40 are my toes.

We ice fish here in washington state on the eastside of the mountains on the coastal side it doesn't get cold enough to freeze the lakes. Our ice doesn't get as thick as yours!!! But its mostly the same, we drill the hole, and we mostly have different kinds of trout in our lakes here. It looks like our poles and lures are similar as well :). Really enjoying your videos, thank you and Blessings from the USA

The fish your husband caught we call havka (pike). The fish you caught we call vuosku (bass or perch). In another video I saw you caught harri (grayling), çuovssa (don't know the English name but it is silver and very tasty). Also dabmug (trout). We also catch njahka (sweet water cod - burbot), and ravdo (arctic char) - very beautiful fish with red belly and white fins and blue/green upper. We also fish from icy lakes like you did in the video, and in the summer with sun light the whole night. Very nice to be out with family and friends and experience nature.

I have never ice fished before cause in San Diego, California there is no ice, unless you're up in the mountains high in elevation. I take my 23.5 foot boat out to sea to fish offshore. We go out like 30-plus miles to try to catch mahi mahi, yellowfin tunas, bluefin tunas and yellowtails, just to name a few. We also have lakes and rivers to catch trout, largemouth bass, crappies, catfish and various species of panfish. Needless to say San Diego is really great for fishing year round cause it hardly gets cold out here. We have an average temperature of 70 degrees fahrenheit. I guess we pay a lot for getting to live in great weather most of the time. You guys are really dedicated to your fishing. What fish are those that you caught? It was kind of hard to tell from the videos of the frozen fish. Love your content. Keep the videos coming so that I can enjoy your experiences of what you and your family are doing in Yakutsk.
