In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Beefie, thanks so much for that comment and the sub. Now just to clarify, the IR button that I said nobody knows what that is for, I was just joking because it's so seldom used. The IR button is actually if you are fishing next to another sonar and it somehow rejects the other sonar's signal. Good video. The IR button stands for Interference Rejection. If you are close to other finders you can pick up interference which looks like blinking lights or a false christmas tree. You hold the button until the false marks disappear.

Thanks for the info, I have been ice fishing for 40 years, I still do not use any type of vexlar equipment, I guess I am still old school, but my father started using one a couple years ago and he said it has changed his fishing for the better. All my buddies use them and swear by them. So I am going to look into getting one, but I wanted to figure out how to use one. Thanks for the video. I hate to take tips from a guy wearing a packer hat, but I guess I can make an exception. JK,

Awesome! Glad you were able to see past the Packer hat! LOL! If I were buying new I would probably get a computer screen type instead of the flasher type. When I bought mine there wasn't many options for anything other than flashers, but now there is. Also, many of them you can set to flasher mode and the screen looks similar to a flasher if you really want that. Lot's of guys use them in the normal fish finder type mode. That way you can display a little recent history if you happen to look away for a second or two. But yes is you jig fish when ice fishing they are all great. KPO.

Richard, more solid reflections come back in red, lesser in the other colors. Let me be clear, if I was buying a new ice fishing fish finder today, I wouldn't buy a flasher unit. This unit is about 23 years old and still working good, so I can't justify spending $400 on a new one. But the new display screen ones I believe are so much better than flashers now. Flashers used to be preferred because they were more real time than the old screen display ones, but that's no longer the case. Then you add in GPS and map features and it's no contest. But if you could find a used one for $75 and all you wanted was to see bottom, your lure and fish, it would be a good deal. Thanks for watching, KPO.
