In the NHL if some score a goal on an empty net. Would that be considered a shot on goal?

In one game my kid face 6 break aways and came out aggressively which resulted in the shooters shooting wide. Without him there those are clear goals but for the purpose of stats I have assumed they are not considered shots on goal. Is that correct?

What if they dump it in and it’s on net? It’s not an intention to score so should you count it. Also what if it goes it? It wasn’t an intention to score but it went in the net so is it a shot?

Seems that "it would have gone in" is an educated guess, a judgement call.
