EAGLE PENNEL. He SHOULD have been one of our treasured directors. At the very least well known like John Sayles, or Richard Linklater, but I picture bigger. Anyone who doesn't already know, seek out the dramedy LAST NIGHT AT THE ALAMO. To me his gift seems to get actors to appear their roles are LIVED IN, scars and all. This is considered his LESSER effort by his early collaborators, or completely ignored entirely. Glad I looked for this again, and found it this time. I compare his short career to Joseph B Vasquez. The greats that never were!

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

It was just all right it certainly didn't cost them that much money to make. This movie did not have a lot to it nothing you could really sink your teeth into, it's all right to pass the time it's not the worst film that I've seen.

About midway I was thinking this is one low budget movie, where 95% of it was spent in one room. But then I started thinking about some great one room movies, like Burt Reynolds Stella, Paul Newman n Liz Taylor Hot Summer, n Liz Taylor, Virginia Wolf, and I thought that is when real drama is acted, in one room. And it did get more interesting, and exciting when that guy kicked the door in, and beat him up. But the star guy really did a Burt Reynolds Stella moment, at end, when he told his life. And the crazy part about that was that same truth Melissa Gilbert put a gun to his head, to keep him from saying it, was the same truth when she finally listened, that freed her. I like the storyline, of this movie. That mama of hers was some real trash.
