Stalactites are on the ceiling, hence the c in the name. And Stalagmites are on the ground. Easy to remember because of the g in the name. I did a science project on these about 30 years ago, and have never forgotten.

and now I'll never forget. Thanks.

My mnemonic is that stalactites cling tightly to the ceiling, and stalagmites push up mightily from the floor. (Yeah, okay, so geologically that's not how stalagmites work, but it makes it easy to recall which is which!}

Love that! And the bubbles just add to it with the painted up cave ones!

These are fun ice spikes. I really like the clear resin for the effects.

I really like the way the two-color castings came out. Almost a shame to color it up! Seems like this would also be a way to do a cool effect of having something/someone frozen in ice. Or the standard gelatinous cube... "Oh, yeah, that magical sword the thief made off with? That looks a lot like it, there in the cube."

Yes I have done cubes before but I did have some ideas for some LED transparent miniatures.

Beautiful pieces! I have been checking your page two weeks for some of your D&D crack, Caleb! Hell has frozen over here down in Texas. I have been painting up Icewind Dale peeps all week. Looking forward to your painting stream too! Again-these look lovely. I love all the translucent effects going on.

Good looking terrain, might look even better if you can incorporate this look on some sort of monster? Imagine a monster with those spikes all around it!

If you warm your resin and after you pour and vibe the mold, use a lighter/ bbq lighter to run a flame over the surface. This will pop the exposed air bubbles.

The two different color resin ice looks SICK! I'm mad this cam out just after my Northlands campaign wrapped up ;P

try putting the molds in a pressure pot or using a heat gun to them. I think you're looking for perfection that's not really needed. Great job either way!
@Blandco3 жыл бұрын
I do have a heat gun! I haven't heard of using it on molds before this. (I have heard of heating molds up to prepare them.) I might have to experiment.

Awesome job! Gotta get into mold making~! I've got to ask, where are these kobold minis from? I love the models and the paintjob!

Just finished the video... I'll wait for the next episode... :D

Ah yes. Well all I can say is that if you buy 3D miniatures. Including Frost Lands Kobolds from Cast and play then buy from a licensed merchant of CastnPlay! And hopefully you can find a cheap deal on ebay or etsy consdering shipping. (3D resin miniatures are not as durable as mass produced resin miniatures but they have sharp detail! At least the ones I found.)

Great video! I am always on the lookout for some sort of clear clay to make translucent things - I have yet to find it! Thanks
