Josh your looking at $7,000.00 just in fuel and another $3,000.00 in recovery costs cause those two wreckers were rotators plus the price per km so all together the cost with tax is easily $15,000.00

@@shawnpa did you skip past or did you see they had their hazmat truck there’s the fuel for that they also had people doing traffic control and depending on how a rotator is built the fuel tank is 90 to 120 us gallons so while on scene they can on a all day recovery burn through an additional 90-180 gallons of fuel just to power the truck to do the recovery plus the labor of all the employees plus the travel to and from there shop if I remember that spot was roughly a 8 hour trip from there shop you would be surprised at how fast money adds up

I find that turning your hazards on to warn traffic behind that there COULD be a potential halt or a quick slow is a good idea! Especially when a bunch of cars in front are suddenly braking you don't know if they will stop or not, you'll warn other drivers behind you of a potential hazard!

Your frantic waving is a remnant of the days when you were a Volvo driver.
@michaelthomas3646

I couldn't fault your use of hazards at all, the UK highway code when passing my driving test was extremely vague about using hazards, the only thing it said was never use hazards when driving, and only use hazards on the highway/open road (60 mph+ roads) when your speed is less than 40 mph. so totally up to the individual and their interpretation on what the highway code was saying. but basically my interpretation is use them in the interest of public safety, and warning others of a danger. or changing of speed as in down to a total stop. there isn't a minimum or maximum amount of time, but as a general rule should display hazards until they a totally obscured from view by other traffic. so like in this vlog, I couldn't fault you with your use of hazards, as by the time you were close to 20-30 mph then you were obscuring the view of the recovery crew from the cars behind, so hazards mean you are slowing down/stopping, when stationary I would generally like to see 5 cars behind my car unless my car has the hazards high up the back of the car, before switching them off, I will display them if I see a hazard ahead so that drivers have more time to slow down (reducing the chance of injury to myself and others, especially if the stationary traffic is on a bend, but say got a truck behind that would need to slow down over a longer distance to make a safe stop.
@michaelthomas3646
@michaelthomas3646 2 жыл бұрын
but when visability is reduced as in vegitation on the side of the road, trees, or grass verges, then I would personally use the hazards for longer, as it would allow traffic coming around the bend more time to see that traffic is stationary. so totally up to the personal driver at the end of the day, and what they think will reduce the chance of danger to themselves and other road users.
