As someone who grew up in the south Jersey and Philly metal community but had always had a love for hip hop, T is a hero. He is an expert on the history of both genres and widely respected in both areas. Nobody else has that distinction. He can run a hip hop or a heavy metal show and be at home in both places. As a member of the Hip Hop culture this dude here is so incredible. It's funny how he knew better than to negatively influence people (to a certain degree) but listen to these guys now. Drugs, killing, the exact opposite of what the architects of our culture worked to curtail. Crime rhymes are now all the rage and it's not getting better. The Hip Hop culture is hustling backwards. I remember back to an interview Glen E. Friedman did with Rolling Stone about different pictures he took along his way to becoming one of the most respected photojournalists in the game. He said that once he went over to Ice T's place to take pictures to promote (I think), "Bodycount" and said that he had a gun on him even though he knew how much Glen hated guns. Glen suggested that he should let him take a picture of him holding the gun to his head with his big diamond ring and Rolex on because it would serve as a reminder to people looking at it that having all that expensive jewelry wouldn't mean shit if you were going mess around with guns. Of course that photo exists because Ice went along with it, just another example of Ice letting himself be the example of what happens if you follow a certain lifestyle. A true legend.

I never watched him act in film after Breakin and New Jack I think I watched some of him being hunted in a movie I developed a disconnect having my "favorite" rappers becoming actors Then I learned many were just acting all along Ice T taught me much over the years Nice interview

I was doing gangster rap in Chicago in 83. I kept most of those raps to myself because I didn't want anyone to take my idea and it hadn't been used yet. I was influenced by Melle Mel and blowfly. But Chicago has no record labels or connections it was a house music town. When I heard Ice-T 6 in the morning years later on a Doctor Dre swap meet tape in San Diego when I was in the Navy I was floored. He had the same idea I had but was way better
