Ice-T calls this a "gang rap", but he wrote it in high school (early-mid 70s), which was before Hip Hop started (late 70s). Another term he's used for raps like these is "Crip Rhyme".

Ice T has had a very interesting life. Army, pimp, robber, musician, rapper, actor and entrepreneur. Like 5 lifetimes worth Update: Bumped into him on Wall Street about two weeks ago when he was taking a breather from shooting one of those SVU or CSI shows he does. Being from NY and seeing and knowing famous people I don’t usually stop to say Hi, but in his case I did. Nice guy.

Ice said he had "diplomatic immunity"(could go in any hood). he was like a M.c slash d.j... he could rap and various gangs would request shout outs when he performed...he had ties but basicly repped the whole south central movement in its infant stages of hip hop...what we know today as gangster rap .

The interviewer irritated me with all the interruptions. Lol. And you can see it also bothered Ice-T, but he’s a professional. I remember hearing about this cat back in the 80’s in my neighborhood. A true hustler. I’m glad that he pointed out all of that old school non-color wearing in the music industry. Rap cats ALWAYS told you where they were from, without saying it, if you knew the streets, the symbols, and lingo. But nowadays everybody on “super thug” status, banging and claiming any and everything, on some stupid shit. Smh. Backwards ass progression.

The east coast was way ahead of that IN NY....the only difference is our style and our major is called HARDCORE RAP....which contains characteristics with aggressive...angry..rebellious....confrontational...and RAW street lyrics within any topics🗣🗣🗣 ...like run dmc...meli.mel...krs one and more...we rapped about guns...violence...street life...and going to war and more on the streets plus ...and more versatile But the west coast are only plainly known and popular with only gangstaism in rap music (EVEN THOUGH) and rap about mostly gang sshit on the forth front as newbies ...so that's why their style was called gangsta rap from the industry/ media California = GANG CULTURE New York = STREET CULTURE BIG DIFFERENCE B 💯👌🏽

Proverbs 4:14-22 Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not walk in the way of evil. Avoid it, do not travel on it; Turn away from it and pass on. For they do not sleep unless they have done evil, And their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence. But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know what makes them stumble. My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.

Living legend he might not have been the most lyrical emcee ever but he told his reality and ,like he said out the whole west on his back . Ppl always credit N.W.A. for bringing gangsta rap to the fore front but everybody always sleep on T ...the song colors nuff said . This man has done it acting , hip hop , and has a bad ass metal band .

@Juan Bowen stop clowning nothing in rap started in west coast. Even Pac was east coast. Rap started in the Bronx but Kool hurk, first battle rapper Kool Moe Dee, and first gangsta rapper is schooley D. Even ice t admitted that in an interview. And you get no stripes for robbing someone on your own turf. Why didn't he come to NYC and do it. Smh

3:17-3:30 Just watched Kev Mac videos and Big Kountry from 5-9 Brims came to Eddie Watts Jr. saying he got some homies from the Jungles wanna get down with us and Eddie said we be up there later on today. So they went out to Jungles(Baldwin Hills) and in the video they showed a wall outside the Jungles in 1974 and it said This is Blackstone Territory and No one is allowed accept APB(Athens Park Boys)All Brims,Eastside Bounty Hunters,Westside Denver Lanes,Inglewood Westside Family. No where does it say Bloods The Brims were the first Anti-Crip Set in South Central LA… The Biggest Black Organization Period

remind me of Everyhood USA! like on my block back in the day, OGs on the corner dropping that science to us youngins. if they see you on the block during school hours and you're not sick, "Why ain't u in school Lil Harp?" Those guys were righteous, they smoked and drank but they'd NEVER give you any or let someone get u hooked on something. We had HONOR back then. Now everybody is out for self!
