Seems impractical to have to do a process to make it work, does it work better than other brands by pre chilling or does it work better for a yetti? I'm researching which cooler to buy so I'd like to know
@The_Wanderer...2 ай бұрын
@@Valeriamtzpso, you obviously don't have to buy a yeti, there are plenty of other brands that do the same thing, pre chilling is just a practice you do to help the ice stay cold when you first put it in. It should work with all coolers, but it may work better some coolers more than others. The idea is to remove any heat inside the cooler that could speed up the process of melting the ice, and for more advanced coolers it may also help cool down the elements that help keep the box cool for long periods of time.

I’ve got the same Yeti and same Igloo. They both hold ice very well. You have to pack as much ice as possible. But the trick is to use ice that’s melted together into a solid brick. The ones that are almost impossible to break apart. Those last a couple of days longer.

That kinda makes sense. When I use the ice from the fridge, my water seems colder and when I freeze balls or thick sticks of ice it lasts longer. I think the freezer ice has more surface area and may chill the water more but since it is not in a block, won't last as long. Now I put in 2 sticks and 2 scoops of ice in my 1200ml or 40floz bottle. Great Post. Thank you. 😊😊😊

So many people saying size matters , or we need more details, this was not a scientific test, but must of us would of thought the Yeti would of been the one with ice, the fact that the Igloo is as good or nearly as good for 10% of the cost should atleast encourage us to think about the value, Yetis are very nice but are they worth the cost, all depends on your amount of disposable income, but just dont do it to keep up with the jones
@Xx233xX9 ай бұрын
I promise y’all were prolly in and out of the yeti more than the igloo. Yeti has much more mass to so if you pull it out of a hot garage it retains that heat and makes your ice melt quicker. You either need to sacrifice a bag of ice the night before or bring the cooler in the house for a few days to pre chill the cooler. Most folk(hunters/fisherman/construction)who actually use yeti product care less about about the ice retention and more about the durability of the cooler. Had one fly off the truck going 80mph never opened just had a little rash and is still going strong 10 years later

While I feel that Yeti is way overpriced, the volume comparison is lopsided. The Yeti is much smaller in volume capacity versus your Igloo. Also, what context can be provided for practical use? Did the Yeti get more use (open and close)? Did the Yeti sit in the sun versus the igloo was in shade? What contents were in each? Did the yet just have some food and the Igloo had cold brewskis? Did the Yeti get left open for extended periods of time versus the Igloo? You left out so much detail and are comparing apples to oranges. I personally just bought a Yeti today after using an old Coleman for years. It took me a lot of review searching to decide to make the purchase. So I’m not basis as I haven’t used it yet. But practical use of the cooler makes a difference along with size comparison.
