I think my favorite thing about this anime is that it's got the perfect amount of shit going wrong. Most times, people write stories with happy endings, and when they don't, the stories are usually written so that it's really depressing how literally nothing goes right and it's so obvious that it's what they're going for. Madoka Magicka takes the approach of having things go wrong and not having a perfectly happy ending, but not make it seem like the universe is centered around keeping the main cast down. I think it's a fragile balance that this team has really nailed.

I wasn't really an Anime fan before watching this show, sure I did watch some well known anime like Cowboy Bebop, Fist of the Northstar and so on But nothing brought me to tears or moved me more than this show; The story, the characters, the music, all perfect. When I first saw a poster for madoka magica, i thought it was some sailor moon clone, but when I saw people giving it high praise, i was curious and decided to watch it, hands down in my top 5 anime of all time

There's actually a game scenario where they all fight together, in Mobile. If I'm not mistaken Mobile's game scenarios are all canon, since the ones that aren't the normal one all end with Homu resetting the timeline. Anyway, to get them all happy and alive, Homu has to basically fix their lives, what costs training time. That results in Homura simply watching them to see they stood no chance against Walpurgis as they were, and resets the timeline. Without despair, magical girls aren't much, apparently.

Fighting endlessly. Watching loved ones die before your eyes. Watching people you have befriended be killed right in front of you and having to continue without the privilege of being able to grieve. Being able to watch someone rot from the inside out and going from an innocent lovable soul to a demonic witch, that can screw up anyone. Homura knew she had no chance but she kept going. Fighting an endless battle for Madoka because she knew that if she stopped she would succumb to depression and become a witch and Madokas fate would remain unchanged. Homura did this from age 14 till she was 26. Homura was a true friend who never stopped fighting over and over. She will be missed.

All of the Magical girls suffered a terrible fate, yet each was unique and had their own reasolve. Sayaka probably had the saddest ending of them all. She became emotionally detached. She wanted to be a hero of justice and help others, but in the end despair enveloped her soul. Mami had the most gruesome ending of the girls. Just after making a friend with Madoka she met her untimely fate. Kyouko perhaps the most overlooked and unloved character. she had the appearance of someone whom is arrogant , but deep down needed help. Seeing her father murder her family then take his own life ruined her original dream. What she saw in Sayaka made her remember the resolve she originally had when she became a magical girl. Homura became a distorted character from going back and forth through time. All she wanted was to save the person most important to her, that was her wish. Spending over 8 years reliving that month trying to find a way to do it. That's why I understand what she did at the end of Rebellion, that was the only way out. Madoka maybe suffers the worst fate of them all. She did save Magical girls from becoming witches, but in turn she became a concept with no past or future. Forgotten by everyone except one, having made the ultimate sacrifice for the universe she became a God.

It's deep , each character has a struggle , there's despair and real emotion. Madoka magica is a deconstruction of the mahou shoujo realm and is more than meets the eye.

Based on how the girls are holding hands, it’s how close they are to Madoka. Mami is behind Homura to symbolize Mami’s belief that Homura is trying to stop Madoka from being a magical since she’s too strong. Kyoko is holding Sayaka’s hands to try to stop Sayaka from becoming a witch and falling into despair. I’d say Homura and Sayaka are definitely the closest to Madoka in terms of all the timelines. Or maybe I’m overthinking it!

I'm so happy when I see projects like this and its so obvious that the people who made it cared about it and did their best. Even this theme song fits the story perfectly. It starts out calm and innocent, builds up and gets serious, energetic and then dies down and ends as innocently as it began, but a bit sadder this time. I don't normally like anime, but holy shit, this one has so much to offer.

I've just watched 2 episodes ... I usually hate animes that revolve around girls. But this one is completely different. I can see the potential it has. Not sure if it'll enter my top 5 by the end, but it's definitely going to be one of those series' that I'll remember forever. Fabian Kaufmann Loved the show :D It's one of few 10/10 animes in my list. And I've still got an OST (Magika OST/BGM 03 should bring results in KZbin) as my ringtone :) It's ranked #6 though in my list. Code Geass, FMAB, One Piece (for other reasons), HxH and Steins Gate are ranked higher.

Shaft did an amazing job. Most people who start the series know Madoka will become a magical girl, but just how the show makes her one is amazing. They trick us, fool us, making us wonder when she'll become a magical girl then once the show enters its conclusion, we suddenly change our minds. We beg for her not to become one, but we all knew from the start, Madoka was to become one.

Actually it's Kajiurago(or Kajiuranese), a faux language the composer, Kajiura Yuki created and uses in her songs, not just PMMM songs. She created/uses it because it sounds good, it has no real meaning.

This anime was truly beautiful. Its story tells about how precious life and friends are and what extent those would go for us. The way that Miki,Kyoko,Mami,and Madoka died for the good of mankind in this anime is absouloutely heart breaking and yet so amazingly beautiful. At the end of the final episode,Those words that "Homura" said were truly inspirational. Homura was a great character who many didnt like because of her "mean nature" but she was just looking out for madoka. Great Anime. 10/10.

I think, before you judge Madoka Magica as a shallow anime/movie compared to others, you should watch the three movies. Though the first two are just replays of the 12-episode anime, for me, I think that the third movie is enough for you to already call it a masterpiece. :) (and I died 10M times after watching the third movie T-----T)

Well, I haven't seen Attack on Titan yet, but this is seriously the best anime I've ever seen. This show is what made me come out of the anime closet and allowed me to confess to my parents how much I loved anime so that I could go watch the movie. 1. Even though the show is only twelve episodes long, it is perfectly paced. 2. The world is a place that you can really believe could exist, behind the curtain of our awareness. There are specific rules set and the show never breaks its own rules.

I really like it as well, but you aren't really going to find any dissenting opinions on a video like this--have you also asked those who are not fans why they don't like it? You might want to do so in order to get a balanced opinion. Also, as mentioned above, you could also check out review videos and such. Usually they include at least a few positive AND negative elements. It wouldn't give you a completely balanced perspective, but it would be better than only asking people on this video. Enjoy it if you decide to see it!! :)

At first I was thinking "Cute magical girls who fight? Alright." Then I started to really like the story after the first few episodes. It starts to turn into the dark side to becoming a magical girl. Love the story. It gives you all the sad feels. The soundtrack is great and epic. I loved it. I find the witch fighting pretty epic. The ending is pretty awesome, makes you sad but really awesome.

I started watching this because of Precure going downhill recently. Should I thank Toei for making Precure into a generic magical girl?I wish even kids anime could be a bit more deep and dark, not as much as Madoka Magica, but years ago it was more common for kids anime to be dark, like Chirin no Suzu (that thing is depressing) now everthing is overly cute and happy...and most of the time about idols and fashion, with no emotion and just aiming at selling toys, and originality died...

Madoka magic made me yearn for better story telling in everything instead of the usual generic. I lost interest of precure cuz of madoka. Tokyo mew mew has its own thing to it to make it stand out. Precure is pretty much Sailor moon on steroids. Mermaid melody its in the name. Shugo chara is very good at psychological stuff. (Precure does not now stand well on its own in my opinion cuz madoka magic came out).
