That was really fun to watch!! I love how excited you get.... especially when you get to "guess that yarn!". At the Goodwill near me they sometimes have yarn that has no label... for a while I was buying it (50 cents per skein) and I would make something like a hat or scarf and then donate it back. After a few times, the ladies there figured out what I was doing, so they started letting me just have the yarn for free. Most of the time I could tell it was just Red Heart yarn, but once in awhile I'd get some "nice" wool blends. It was fun!

There are simple tests to find out what materials are in misc yarns. Wool is hard to burn and it doesnt ignite. Acrylic will have your house in flames is seconds for example.

I love it all!!! The odd balls are my favorite. I like to take a coordinating color to make a dress or cardigan (or both if I have enough yarn) for children and put a stripe close to the bottom with the different yarn. They look amazing and really high end. I live on SSDI and this is how I supplement my income. You would be surprised how much those one of a kind outfits can go for.

Good Morning Crystal! Just a thought--on the balls you are calling the "weird" yarns in the mixed lots. I've used stuff like this in making cords for my beaded pendants, I've couched it down on to fabric to make textured pillow/cushion covers. I made several "animal" hoods (lion, zebra, unicorn, etc.) for my grandkids to play dress up with using "weird" yarn sewn down in rows for the hair--They Loved Them!. I've also sewn it down to alphabet blocks and made a full size bed quilt decorated with yarn. It was much quicker than trying to embroider all of the letters and designs. So,, there are Lots of uses for the weird stuff besides just using it like "yarn". lol I just keep all kinds of stuff stashed and ready for whenever inspiration --and time--hits me. And I just dare anyone in the family to even TRY to talk me out of getting rid of any of it. lol I love having a stash of my own to go to whenever inspiration hits. And I love watching your videos and learning so much from you. OH--!!!!--don't forget about making fancy fringes with it! Anyway, thanks again. Keep up the good work. We all love you. k.

Way back when.. . My home ec teacher had us do experiments on yarns and fabrics by , lighting a match to ends, wetting them, tasting, smelling and drying to tell the differences between and ability to identify them. What a great teacher, at the time I thought she was an old battle axe.

I love that thin purple varigated out of one of the big packs. If anything could make a pretty hair band or a small cowel . so they do look like most of them are worth it, and with prices of shipping up all over the place shipping can be acceptable.

If you are really curious as to the finer content, you can always take a small (1/2” or so) snippet and burn it… if it A) burns and smells like hair, it has wool in it……and B) burns and beads up and basically drips or turns black and smells like burning plastic, then it’s acrylic

It's nice to see the newer variety of yarns available.... luckily my hands can handle the lighter variety of yarns using the appropriate tools that are arthritic hand friendly.... After seeing some of your online purchases I decided to take the chance and was pleasantly surprised with what I found and ordered from hobbii, now I feel I need to take a chance with the other online suppliers and add to my yarn stash/collection

I got a pack of the self-strapping rainbow when it was on sale. It is 100% acrylic so you have the correct label with that one. Just know that it breaks very easily. The colors work up beautiful though. The rainbow with the cream running through it is a cotton blend. It is great!

You are pretty accurate on your yarns for sure. I think if they had a game show for name that yarn you would be a top contender for sure. I love watching these unboxing videos they have helped me explore new yarns I never would have tried before. Now I have more bulky 5 and 6 than I did before because I was unsure in the past and in a lot of colors. Couldn’t find the t shirt yarn so I am using a bulky and a N hook for one of your basket patterns. I’ll post picks when finished 😊💙

I was saying "Open it! Open it" for that last pack of yarn!! Of course I stayed with you to check out the yarn!! I've bought a couple of Ice Yarns mixed packs, but one said it was all cotton! The whole big bag was 100% cotton with a number of balls of 2 different weights of cottons, but each type had a number of balls that go together & they've been fantastic for all sorts of things.... including edgings of shawls when I've run out of a Hobbii Cotton Kings yarn, so was perfect. The other pack said it was acrylic eyelash & was all one type of yarn & one thickness & colour, which I crocheted into a ruana poncho that's fabulous in winter. Would I buy a mixed pack again? Yes, as long as I know that there's no wool in it as I can't tolerate wool. Thanks for checking out their mixed bags..... loved it!!🥰 Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

Recently I noticed that they are listing some of their mixed lots as all acrylic or all wool. So that might help people with sensitivities to animal fibers. I think the pack of Alpaca yarn is ICE Yarn's Alpaca colors (you can look it up for all the specifications). I bought some of the self striping rainbow. It is 100% acrylic. The rainbow with the cream/white running throw it is a cotton acrylic blend.

l also wondered about the Mixed Lots from ICE Yarns. I have not gotten any of those since the shipping is so high, I did not want to pay a high price for shipping and not know exactly what I was getting. Especially if you know that you will never use some of the yarns, however since you have so many giveaways and you also sell many Mystery Boxes in your Etsy Shop, then this Yarn Haul Was PERECT 4 You! I loved all the yarns, and can not wait to see what you end up doing next. Thanks so much for sharing your Excitement and your Yarn Haul.
