Hi, thanks for the review. i need to know if this unit will keep the set temperature in 90-100 outside air temps. Every review shows the operator pushing the temperature adjust and you can clearly see that the actual temp is off from the set temp. I realize if you open the lid the temps will raise, but for how long, and can the unit recover in 100 degree weather, not just sitting in an air conditioned house. I have a JP42 and it must be defective because it cannot hold temperature worth a dang if its outside on a hot day sitting in the shade. The internal temps keep slowly rising while on max cool.
@gearkid660
@gearkid660 3 жыл бұрын
Frankly not sure I never tested this unit to that extreme. What’s the temp you set it too? If you set it to freezing I can see that the unit is probably taxed out. But if it cannot handle maintain refrigeration temps there maybe an issue with the unit.

Have you had any issues with the 12v power cord? I've read a lot of reviews saying the power cord doesn't stay connected and it pops out often. Its the reason I've held back from getting one for my camper. Thx
@gearkid660
@gearkid660 4 жыл бұрын
I have read those reviews as well. The cord is of lower quality when compared to a dometic power cord, it does not have the same snug feeling when inserted to a 12 volt socket. Having said this the dometic 12V power cord has the same input and output ends. I have confirmed it works when i took the 12 volt cord from my dometic cc40. So if i ever have a problem with the stock cord i will simply purchase another dometic 12V power cord. Type down Dometic 4451037733 12 Volt 8 Amp Power Cord for CF Refrigerators in Amazon if you want to get one as a backup.

Had this fridge for a short amount of time and would like to speak on this issue. I did have a problem with the power cord in the sense that it popped out constantly. My solution was very low tech . I found that the positive (center nub) of the plug was quite stiff compared to others. It had almost no give and I had a hunch that it was simply preventing the entire plug from seating itself in deep enough. The solution? Open the plug by unscrewing tip as if you’re replacing the fuse, remove the spring, and simply cut back 2 or 3 coils. It still allowed the positive nub (the outer metal tabs are the negative/ground ) to make plenty of contact ,but it now sits just a bit deeper in. The slightly lower tension completely resolved the issue for me and beats buying a different cord followed by cutting and splicing. Hope this helps

Great review!! You were the first reviewer to demonstrate the unit using the DC car charger. Most demonstrate using the ac/DC converter. Do you have contact with the manufacturer?? I have purchase a go20, but need warranty assistance. First unit was recieved DOA. The replacement unit with not remain powered using 12v DC only???

We will be on a boat and want this to make ice. I read that it has a hard time maintaining 0 degrees. Online I've read you need 0 degrees to make solid ice. Don't know if that is true. So if I put several 10 0z containers filled with water into this as a freezer, would this be able to freeze the water?

Could this be left in the car overnight? Or would you suggest to bring it into the hotel each night on road trips? Just worried about draining my car battery.
@gearkid660
@gearkid660 2 жыл бұрын
It has battery protection so you should not worry about being stranded. But if you have perishables inside the fridge you should bring it with you. Since the fridge will turn off once it goes down to a certain voltage so you still have battery to start the car

I know this may sound too basic and maybe stupid. But how do you plug it in the charge it up? Can I charge it in the house before leaving?
@gearkid660
@gearkid660 Жыл бұрын
There is no built in battery for the fridge you have to buy one separately (known as a power station). You charge the power station so you can take the refrigerator with you. One way of doing it is plug the car charger into the power station and plug the fridge to the powerstation. This way while you drive the power station is charging and operating the fridge. When you turn off the car the power station will keep the fridge running.

For such a bulky fridge they definitely could maximized on the storage space.
@gearkid660
@gearkid660 3 жыл бұрын
That’s pretty tricky. The right side of the fridge is dedicated to compressor and electronics. As for the storage area the manufacturer has to find the right insulation to usable space ratio. To thick of insulation you have no room to put stuff. To thin than the compressor will run continuously since cold air won’t stay in the freezer, killing power efficiency as well
@ThuggyMacho
@ThuggyMacho 3 жыл бұрын
I understand, the compressor size is reasonable but the insulation is very thick on the vertical sides and they could've made the divider thinner to increase storage space. Missed opportunity on the design layout of this line but hopefully the next generation it is more spacious. Domestic did a great job at balancing their insulation ratio and they offer 30 quarts instead of 20.
