I love waydi as a person and he show again who he is, doesn't matter if he lost he won all our respect... this event learn you to put your ego on the side and see you weakness to make you grow stronger so a really big respect for waydi... and damn icee my brother that should be expoded on the eyes of poeple since 2000 this guy is a star that shine in the shadow for too long, I 'm so proud of him and happy that since few years poeple see who he is and how far he can be in his dance... one love for dance is what we should remember and talk about... I always enjoy going back to this video. The moment when I saw my favorite dancer right now get legitimately beat in the most respectful way. Even to where he admitted humbly, that he was defeated. I love Waydi. He is my favorite Hip Hop dancer. Icee is incredible. I don't like his style. However, he is a better dancer than Waydi. Icee has a better dance vocabulary. Both have great musicality, but Icee's "vocabulary" allows him to never have dead moments in his performance. He never stops to think about what's next ; he can go all day till the music stops. Good job from both guys. Waydi is a class act.

I can't even admit defeat battling between friends at the park. Imagine a competition at this level.

Gotta respect Waydi for that one. Man is a fan fave and he did not let that take over his ego. Icee was hands down the rawest man of the night. I had the honour of battling him in the cypher for more than 7 rounds. After that he battled in the comp and always went the extra round to prove that he won and more than half the time his opponents admitted defeat. That's raw!!! then he cyphered for the rest of night and partied with everyone. Much respect to the dancers in the competition but a lot of the people who made top 12 don't cypher. They just wait for the competition rounds to start. If n e thing they will dance with each other, but nobody they don't know. Icee tho, this guy didn't give a damn. He does this ish for the love not for the fame not for the cash. He gets down no matter what. Respect this man. personally believe the only one who could of stopped him would be Niako. Hope those two cross paths....if they do someone tape it for me.

+Andre Andrews well in terms of music youre absolutely right, but i think the music was picked on purpose to find the most musicality dancer. tbh noone of both competitors wasnt hit the beat in the first song, whats near impossible but thats how you find out whos best. so i think the songs was picked to see whos best. anyway the same dj did mixing the music for the waydi vs kefton battle, which was just incredible. so youre rly want to fire that dj? i think he was godlike ^^

Vaan1984 Yes, but the DJ could have found lesser-known songs that didn't suck to test musicality, so yes I would replace him. Even if you had other good set a DJ should be consistent. This is the finals!

Waydi vs Icee, for me it's classic. For sure, two of the best and greatest hip hop dancers of all time.. Respect these guys. But in this battle, Icee was really better. I confess that the first sound, the first song, got in the way and very Waydi. For me, the score was 3x1 for Icee. First Round - Icee. Second Round - Waydi. Third Round - Icee. Round Extra - Icee again. He didn't even need the extra round, but just in case, it happened, and Icee won on merits.

I really wanted to know 2 things: 1) The dancers do have access to some sort of playlist beforehand? Or they just practice so much that they already know a lot of songs? 2) Why is the decision like that? what happened to the judges? Excuse me if i'm too naive... but i'm kinda new to hip hop battles.

+BlahBlahBLah BLAH At Summer Dance Forever the competitors are asked if they won or they lost. From here it can go in a couple of ways: one of them says they lost, the judges decide or the crowd decides by screaming for the one they think they won(the guys at SDF got some sort of noise detection machine which measures the decibels.) As for the music, it's just a lot of practice and knowledge about music

+BlahBlahBLah BLAH to give you a better perspective of the second question. Preselections and regular battles are done normally. The final 3 from the pre selection battle one of the judges (they get to choose who they want to battle against). after the judge battles, the dancer and judge can say they either won a match, lost a match, or want another round. During the judge battles the 2 remaining judges vote who won that battle. If every judge lost their battle the remaining three keep going until the last man standing. They also get to choose between win, lost, one more round and crowd reaction. The last one only takes place if non of them admit defeat or if they ask for it. music wise, most of the dancers know of the tracks because they keep getting played during other battles or knowledge of the music.

Usually it's same djs playing these events, someone like Waydi knows literally every beat you can throw at him (which really helps him considering his beatkill style, but at the same time - theres not much freestyling).

I don't get what's wrong with you. One thing is people saying who they think won here. But you turn the general sharing of opinions into politics, even dropping to blaming people for racism. This is not politics, although I cannot say that the latter does not influence judges' or the public's opinions, this is just a battle. Listen to what Waydi says at the end of the first battle when asked whether he won or lost, namely "I don't care". Do not turn this battle or opinion sharing into politics, people judge ONLY their dance and general behaviour INSIDE the battle, it does not matter who are you outside. You may be nothing, be a criminal, be a psychopath, but as long you manage to legally step onto the dance floor as the battle begins - it does not and must not matter who are you outside of it as long as you can show class. I get that you do not agree with some about particulars there, but do not turn this into politics, there is no place in dance for such things.
