There is a lot of love for the Seekers, "I Am Australian". While this song, (Great Southern Land) uses video to show off the various landscapes (from camels to snow... We have more wild camels than Saudi Arabia, and more snow than Switzerland!!), the song I Am Australia talks of how some people became Australia. And, it is a great song by a very talented band. Icehouse are a class act, and Iva Davies is a brilliant artist. Absolutely world class! We had a guy in Australia named Peter Allen. He married Liza Minelli when he was on his way up in America. They divorced and he lived the rest of his life as a gay man (not open about his sexuality). Sadly, he passed away at age 48 in 1992 due to AIDS related illness. What he did leave was a great catalogue of music - his signature being ''I Still Call Australia Home''. I don't know how well a song like that would wash off in the rest of the world, but over here it's a treasure. Happy Australia Day. 🦘

We have amazing world class ski resorts here in Australia- but we just don’t have the powder you find in North America, Europe, NZ and Japan. Our snow is a bit on the icy side! I just asked for one song for Australia day, and I wasn't the only one asking for it. I do find it quite annoying that you heed a request by a few, but ignore a request by many. I second that.
@rhonda_hart49828 күн бұрын
@@hanierfamily Those requests are part of an accumulation from your previous reactions to Icehouse. ''Great Southern Land'' is part of Icehouse's chart achievements in Australia. There is a reason why many of us wanted you to react to either ''I Am Australian'' and ''I Still Call Australia Home''. Those songs are a call for national pride, which is something we could do with. Australia Day has been cancelled in the major cities of Australia, including my city of Melbourne. The government and media are keen to give it a rebranding: 'invasion day'. ''True Blue'', ''Treaty'' and ''Great Southern Land'' are not songs that call for national pride, nor do they carry the sentiment of ''I Am Australian'' and ''I Still Call Australia Home''. It's fine to do Canadian Content or some lesser known song by some UK or US band. That isn't where the annoyance stems from. The annoyance stems from you often ignoring songs that are in demand, or as Eve put it; heed a request made by a few. The reason why you end up reading a long list of names is because you allowed a song that's in demand sit for too long. The least you can do is tell those that are keen that they'll have to wait.
