I think that's what I always liked about Icehouse songs was how so many told a story, whether fantasy or historic, they have meaning.

I known this song for 38 years. Today I see the video for the first time. And ONLY NOW I do notice the penetrant Arabic doodle therein. Still I do not understand what was the ultimate PURPOSE of it?

Not sure but ya cant beat the days when they wrote there own lyrics and played various instruments...that's creative
@marcelbork924 ай бұрын
@@Trev-uu8io I did not say that the band as such, or their music as a whole, was bad. I only say that they were seemingly -- and in hindsight quite obviously -- "influenced" by some *highly unbecoming* influence *from somewhere* already back then, in 1986.

@@marcelbork92what the hell are you on about? The video was the brainchild of Russel Mulcahy and Tunisia was a convenient place to film returning from a European tour. Mulcahy was known for unusual music videos. He's also the one who directed the Indiana Jones parody for Hungry Like the Wolf

@@Dd-ue4ct Thanks for the hint! I did not know the video was filmed in Tunisia. LOL So, my ears heard it right.

For a while there, in the 80's and 90's each Friday and Saturday night did end at a Street Cafe. Thankfully not quite as depicted in this video 😉 but If I were in Turkey or Pakistan then maybe 😁

The feel of this video reminds me of Duran Duran’s video Rio, with the era, smoke and lightning, cinematography, story style.

Russell Mulcahy who directed this video also directed the Hungry Like the Wolf video

Great song. Videos from this era show their age, unfortunately.

60 fps? Really? This should be a nostalgic 24 fps (23,976 fps) music video, not the tv news frame rate.

I think we misunderstood each other I didn't mean to imply that you don't like the band or there music ..sorry
