After so many years, Jonathan Irons still rules as the most iconic villain in COD history. Man, AW came more than 10 years ago and it was waaaayyy ahead of its time. We were kids at that time, so we were used to see everything in Black and White. Now after seeing all of Irons scenes in AW, realising that it's not that simple. Suddenly Irons doesn't seem wrong when you see all the wars and unrest in the world today. His dialogues are spot on and sound so badass. But on the other side, what happens when 1 entity, person has all the power ? That would be pretty scary world too.

@@Slinsluh That's the thing with Irons. You can't really tell whether he was really a villain or portrayed as one. That makes him the GOAT villain of COD. Makarov's enemy was US while Irons had no clear enemy. War was his enemy. He wanted to create 1 entity so powerful that no one could challenge it and countries would stop fighting among themselves for supremacy. In short, he wanted to become GOD

@GuilhermeOliveira-qh8wf2 ай бұрын
@@bugbuggy3866 Then again we have to debate here. People always need a father figure, a figure that shows that is warm, protective and compassionated. People need good examples of leaders, Irons is a leader of a militaristic power not a country. So his speeches is amazing because it brings people together into one goal, but then again to achieve this common goal brutality it comes as the price. Irons ideals comes along with good intentions, but the execution has to be the same way as the mustache man himself, he must put people at his arms on which it brings along divise opinions and then we are no longer together on the same ideals. There was never a policy in life that hasn't costed a human life, people wants good example on their life. And the reason people always fights against these type of leaders is because the means to an end is always on the wrong side of dealing with people. If you intentions it is to make at it's best, the means to it needs to be marked by bad things. The only human on this world who brought billions of people together without hate, agressive takes and shifting ideals was Michael Jackson. The only one who can be trusted to rule a literally planet I think it would be him, not joking.

The reason it worked with Germany is because of how short lived the Nazi regime actually was it hadn't settled in and become the complete Norm over multiple generations yet lots of German people were still sceptical to downright opposed to the ideology and the reason why we are still able to hold it is because we constantly condition the children in their education to hate their own country and to constantly be ashamed for their own ancestors there are plenty of neo-nazis in Germany they're just kept on a short leash as for Japan having to drop not one but two nukes in order to pacify a country is not a allied flex if anything it would be Japan flexing on the rest of the world and the only reasons we've got Japan is because we're the only reason they haven't been consumed by China and then of course there is the culture exchange and fascination which has only made the hold deeper the guy is talking about places like Iran and Afghanistan and the like for example (taliban anyone)
@magniwalterbutnotwaltermag14794 ай бұрын
@@therandomcommenter6629this ignores that the German people of the interwar period actively SUPPORTED the Nazi government to an unhealthy degree to the point the econpmy of the nation vecame #1 by pure manpower and political will before ww2 started. The reason they couldn't keep that #1 spot is because people were motivated by the prospect of being back on top politically and culturally by avenging ww1 through another war. And when they won the first half, you better bet people bought the cool-aid and then some. They didn't have time to plant as deep of roots as Imperial Japan, but even to this day the ideals of Nazism has overtaken more of their former enemies' nations than their own. Because at that point they no longer had the means nor the spirit to start thinking about another war, it was all about building up again starting from scratch. There was no great leader who could try and convince people they were opressed enough to justify it, and even if they could the presence of aid from the Allied powers just meant it would be a vastly harder sell than the Peace with Honour after Versailles that stripped the nation of basically everything it needed. Japan doesn't even being up ww2 aside from America bombing them and never even knowing Germany was on their side. And as for being consumed by China that really wasn't a thing China could threaten upon Japan for a very long time as even trying to fight the nation while a civil-war was still very much going on and their own economy was in shambles is not a good idea. Navy or no island-hopping is hell and China doesn't have enough to bounce back from a world war and a civil war to suddenly go on the offensive outside of the mainland. It's why Vietnam and Korea are poaces they had a major hand in, they had the means to be there. Much more realistically the Russians would be much larger of a threat. Also we are not taught to hate our ancestors. We are taught to be better than them. There's a reason Theoderic the Great, Frederick II of HRE, Arminius and Barbarossa are much more openly viewed as a positive than say figures like Otto von Bismarck or Frederick II of Prussia. The former did great things which are not as controversial as the latter. Frederick II of Prussia has his own problems with vast authority and Bismarck is villified (justifiably) for the partitioning of Africa which he accidentally started after the Berlin conferrence. And none can argue that it was a good thing for Africa. Liking your culture isn't bad but knowing when it was wrong does wonders. As for Afghanistan and Iraq. They were invasions first nation building second. It was doomed to fail because unlike Germany, Japan, Korea or even the later Vietnam there was no drive to make the place stable aside from status-quo or just wanting to leave after deposing the leaders. The mission really was accomplished. The problem was that mission didn't include provisions to build a nation, and nobody wanted to foot the bill.

@@leaderofmine6293 Basically just the title of the game being very casually said by characters in the game. It can get make sense or be quite goofy. Like in Black Ops Cold War, of course it's recognized the Cold War going on and that some of these characters are Black Ops. But it'd be ridiculous, possibly funny, of seeing someone straight up say "This is black ops cold war" or similar along those lines. This line with Advanced Warfare was pretty alright, and makes sense in the context there.

Shepard was definitely my favourite villain. It's not a villain line, but in the first mission after S.S.D.D, one of the Rangers says "Since when does Shepard care about Danger Close?" And then on the second to last mission, Price says the exact same thing word for word when he orders a strike on his own men just to kill two people

No it didn't If you're referencing the United States. The US is a constitutional republic or at least that's what it's supposed to be. The dirty secret about democracy is that it's a nice way of saying mob rule Mob rule is a nicer way of saying lynch mob. Do with that information what you wish
@Nike-nm8jc24 күн бұрын
@@steelrye 'muricans who don't know much about what words mean like to parrot about "it's a republic not a democracy" but like, the full name of the political system of the United States is a Bipartisan, Bicameral, Federal Democratic Presidential Republic. And these words are *descriptors* not categories. It's federal because it has states and a national level order over those states plus intra national separate laws. It's democratic because the organization of power is based upon universal electoral voting with equal chances for all candidates. This is opposed to flawed democracies, competitive autocracies and dictatorships which might have electoral systems but not a clear, clean competition for the system. And its republican because it has separation of powers and no king, pope, or other figure whom power derives from, but rather, from the people of the nation itself. ("We the people...") Seriously, for a country which likes so much to "spread democracy", it's frustrating that y'all don't know yourselves what it is
@thomashsiai62502 күн бұрын
@@steelryeYou’ve misconstrued what democracy really means. The contemporary definition is rule by people, it is not a specific but rather an umbrella term to describe that type of government. Words like Republic are a type of democracy, specifically representative democracy. Therefore, the U.S. is a democracy, one ruled by representatives of the people bound by a constitution. But republic is used more often as it’s a more accurate and concise term. Mob rule, whilst used to describe democracy isn’t super accurate. Even in antiquity such as ancient Athens, it was rarely mob rule. As only a small minority of people actually participated in their direct democracy. (This excluded younger people, women and the large slave population). Mob rule, is an ochlocracy. Feel free to Google all these terms

Advanced Warfare was such a great game. Irons is still one of my top 3 video game bad guys... the best ones are ones that start off as your ally, make some solid points that you can agree with, and have gravitas.. and Spacey nailed this role! The character was so powerful he could stand in front of anyone, speak his intentions and there was nothing they could really do about it, until of course our character steps in and goes after him, personally, for revenge.

And that cliffhanger ending...as a person who loved ghosts from the begining, I wish it didnt get as much hate, So the cliffhanger ending, well, wasnt a Cliffhanger anymore.
